Meet Nancy! The name Nancy means “grace,” and while this sweet little girl certainly lives up to her name, she does it with a healthy dose of adorable puppy clumsiness.
Nancy is approximately 4.5–5 months old and currently weighs 25–30 pounds. We anticipate she will likely stay on the medium side when fully grown, probably under 50 pounds, though we cannot make any guarantees. While we cannot confirm her breed without a DNA test, she appears to be a Pit Bull–type mix. Please don’t let outdated stereotypes stand in her way — dogs like Nancy are often incredibly loyal, affectionate, and people-oriented companions.
Nancy’s story began in the cold when she was found wandering as a tiny two-month-old stray alongside her brother. Her brother was quickly adopted, but Nancy has spent nearly half of her young life waiting in a shelter kennel for someone to choose her.
Despite growing up in a shelter environment, Nancy remains a happy, curious puppy with a sweet and playful personality. She is known for her irresistible head tilts and “please take me home” eyes, and she absolutely loves attention from people.
Nancy enjoys the company of other dogs and would likely thrive in a home with a playful canine companion, though it is not required. She has not been tested with cats, so a cat-free home may be best unless adopters are experienced with slow, structured introductions. The shelter notes she has had limited exposure to children, so a home with respectful, dog-savvy kids would likely be the best fit.
Like any young puppy, Nancy is still learning the basics. She is working on leash training, house training, and polite manners, and her future family should be prepared for the patience and consistency that come with raising a young dog. Nancy is treat-motivated and eager to learn, which will make training both rewarding and fun for her adopters.
Nancy would thrive in a home that can provide structure, patience, and plenty of mental and physical enrichment. A fenced yard would be wonderful for safe playtime and exploration, but given her smaller size, she may also adapt well to apartment or condo living as long as her exercise and stimulation needs are consistently met.
The shelter where Nancy is currently staying is severely overcrowded, and young dogs like her risk spending critical developmental months growing up in a kennel. Nancy deserves the opportunity to experience a real home — complete with cozy beds, loving people, and the chance to grow into the amazing companion she is meant to be.
Health:
Nancy is spayed, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, and on monthly preventatives. She is still too young for heartworm testing but is otherwise healthy, playful, and ready to begin life with her forever family.
Important Information:
All of our dogs, including Nancy, are currently located in Texas and will be transported to adopters once adoption is finalized. Transportation is included in the adoption fee. Please note that adopters will not be able to meet her in person prior to committing to adoption, as transport occurs after finalization.
Breed labels are educated guesses based on appearance and shelter records. We encourage adopters to focus on personality, needs, and long-term compatibility rather than breed alone.
