Deaf dogs can do anything except hear—and I’m living proof of that! My name is Brooklyn, and I’m a 1 year, 4 month old Labrador Retriever mix weighing in at 53 pounds of pure love and joy. I may have been born deaf, but that doesn’t slow me down one bit. I communicate by reading hand signals like “sit,” “come,” and “no,” and I’m really good at picking up cues from other dogs, too!
I’m house-trained and crate-trained, and I pride myself on being a happy-go-lucky girl who sees every single day as a brand-new adventure. Whether I’m chasing tennis balls, playing with boxes, or sniffing out hidden treats, I bring my playful, quirky energy wherever I go. I don’t have a mean bone in my body—I love kids, I adore other dogs, and I’m always ready to snuggle up for a cozy nap (my absolute favorite pastime!).
Now, I’ll be honest—I can be a little stubborn when I really want something, and leashes still freak me out, but I’m working on it! With patience and practice using a halter, I’m getting better each time. I just need someone who understands that I’m learning and will help me feel safe. I do have a heart murmur. It doesn’t need medication right now, but it might someday, so I’ll need a family who’s committed to keeping me healthy and cared for no matter what. In return, I promise to fill your life with love, laughter, and lots of tail wags. I’m the kind of girl who will remind you when the water bowl needs refilling and then try to curl up in the tiniest spot next to you—because I don’t quite understand my size! I love being outside, spending time with my people, and, of course, being spoiled with treats and tennis balls. I'm a special dog who needs a special adopter—and I just know my perfect match is out there. If you’re looking for a sweet, silly, snuggly companion who will make every day brighter, I might just be your girl.
My adoption fee is $75 and includes my spay/neuter, vaccinations, wellness exam, heartworm test, and microchip! If you're interested in meeting/adopting me, please visit www.rescueonespringfield.com/our-adoption-process/adoption-application/ and fill out the form!
