- During my time at Wayside, I have enjoyed being around other dogs.
- I already know some commands.
-I am housebroken and crate trained in my foster home.
- I will do well in a variety of homes!
- I am eligible for a Slumber Pawty, a 7-10 day in-home trial period. Please visit our website for additional information.

My home needs are:
-A fenced yard is a must for me! I need a secure area to run around and release my energy.
-Wayside recommends no apartments or shared living spaces for me. I like to use my voice when I am excited.
-I need a home with kids 6 years old and older who will enjoy my enthusiasm for life!

Hi there, I’m Kelso! I’m smart and playful and goofy and so easy to love. And I’m not afraid to use my beautiful puppy dog eyes to talk you into an extra treat or additional cuddle time. It’s hard to resist my charms, and I’m confident that I will make you laugh and smile every single day. If you’re looking for a fun and active dog who also loves to sweetly curl up on your lap, then I might just be a perfect match for you. I can’t wait to feel the love of a family. That’s all I’ve ever wanted in life.

I’m a handsome, 1-year old, 59-pound Lab mix, with the world’s softest ears, an adorable, expressive face, a big heart, and a spunky, silly, sweet personality. I’m even already crate trained and housebroken, too, as long as you keep me on a schedule. I was first transferred to Wayside from a rural shelter in Oklahoma as a darling, wee pup with my whole life ahead of me. I was adopted, but I recently found myself all alone as a sad stray at another local shelter, before finding my way back to Wayside once again. My life has been full of instability and change, and it felt stressful and confusing being back at the big shelter. The loving family that I had longed for never materialized. Lucky for me, Foster Mom stepped in. She took me home to show me how it feels to be part of a real family. Ah, I finally feel cared for and loved, eager to spend every moment I can with my people.

I quickly and happily settled right in with my new routine and life in foster. I’m still learning, of course, but I’ve made so much progress in just a short time. I listen well, I’m smart, and I’m eager to please, so if you’ll take the time to teach me using positive reinforcement, I will learn what you expect from me. Foster Mom stays patient and calm with me, praising me when I’m a good boy, which makes me so happy and proud. I stay in my crate at night and when no one is home, and I hang out there at times throughout the day on my own. I’m well behaved in the house, and I don’t get into things that aren’t mine. I love my toys, especially the toys that let me use my brain to figure out!

My two favorite things, hands down, are cuddling with my people and playing outside. I was comfortable snuggling up close with both of my foster parents from the very first day. I love the feel of Foster Mom’s hands massaging my soft fur. When she stops, I only have to glance up at her to let her know that I’m ready for more. I like to give soft kisses, too. I will cuddle with you for as long as you let me, soaking up every ounce of your attention. It makes me feel so happy and content. My other favorite thing is to play outside in our fenced yard with her other dog. I never get tired of it! I’m well behaved in the yard, and I don’t try to escape. I will need a fenced yard in my new home as well, so that I have room to run and play to my heart's content. Additionally, I love going for daily walks with Foster Mom. I walk well on my leash and I’m friendly with people and dogs I meet along the way. I like to sniff and investigate the neighborhood too. I also enjoy car rides. I’m always ready for whatever adventure awaits!

I currently live with two other dogs in my foster home, and we get along well, whether we’re playing or just hanging out and coexisting. We have a ball running and playing in the backyard. Still, it can be complicated when I want all the attention from Foster Mom. I’m never aggressive with her other dogs, even though I really prefer to have Foster Mom to myself. She distracts and redirects me, teaching me that there is plenty of love to go around for all the dogs. I’m learning! I will need a home with kids over the age of 6, who are comfortable with my exuberance and excitement. I hope that I can be an important and engaged member of my new family. I want to be right in the middle of all the fun.

The one thing I’ve most wanted in life has been elusive to me, but I have a good feeling that that’s all about to change. Foster Mom assures me that you, my forever family, are out there, and that you need me just as much as I need you. I hope so! I promise to be your constant companion, there whenever you need me, always. Let me show you, every single day, how special you are to me. I can’t wait to be your dog.

Love, Kelso
