DESCRIPTION
General Notes | After dedicating herself to raising a litter of puppies, Charlie is ready to retire from motherhood and find a family to pamper her. This beautiful Chocolate Lab is currently making the journey to Colorado, where she hopes to find her forever home. Want to adopt this dog? Please do not email us. Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP, and an Adoption Coordinator will be in touch within a few days. Our standard application processing timeline is 12 - 14 days.
Personality | Charlie is the definition of a sweetheart. She is incredibly affectionate and loves nothing more than cuddling up with her favorite humans. She gets along well with other dogs and is gentle with children, making her a lovely addition to a family home. While she is super sweet, Charlie can be a little anxious and is looking for a patient owner who can offer her gentle reassurance and help build her confidence.
Story | Charlie was surrendered to MHLM by her previous family while heavily pregnant.
Other Dogs | Friendly with other dogs! She previously had a cattle dog best friend who she played with all the time in her previous home!
Cats | She previously lived with a cat and the rescue was told she tolerated the cat.
Children | Great with kids! She spent her first 4 years living with tiny kids who were 10 months, 4 and 6 years old at the time she was surrendered and absolutely adored them!
Training | She is potty trained, great on car rides, and is used to sleeping in the crate overnight with her former family before she became a mom. Lately she's been spending her nights with her litter of puppies. :)
Leash | She pulls a bit and could use some more leash training! She didn't get a lot of exposure on the leash at her old home
Activity Level | Moderate. She loves to play with other dogs! There's a young pup in her foster home she's become fast friends with!
Health Notes |
Thank you! |
Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $575 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year old, $525 for 1 - 6 years old, $475 for dogs 7 - 10 years old, and $350 for 11+ years of age. Purebred dogs regardless of age are $625. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, transportation to Colorado, and supplies while in foster care (that currently average over $750 per dog).
ABOUT: LABRADOR RETRIEVER DOG BREED
The Labrador Retriever is a popular and versatile dog breed known for its friendly demeanor and high intelligence. These dogs are often used as guide dogs for the visually impaired, search and rescue dogs, and excellent family pets. Labradors are known for their great sense of smell, strong build, and love of water, making them exceptional hunters and swimmers. With their loyal and loving nature, Labradors have rightfully earned their reputation as one of the most beloved dog breeds in the world.
The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
