Please contact Annika Linden (annika.linden@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.happy girl seeking adventure! BELLA NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!!
Name: Bella Best Guess for Breed: Lab and hound mox
Best Guess for Age: 3 years as of April 2026 SEX: Female
Approximate Weight: 51 lbs
Gets Along With:Other dogs! We haven't seen her with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!
Currently Living at: South Carolina shelter - needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get up here!
Special adoption considerations: Bella is a truly Lucky Dog. She tested positive for heartworms, but landed in a place where heartworm treatment is provided! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. Heartworm dogs can resume full active and normal lives, but need to be kept calm for 4-6 weeks after treatment. We are happy to discuss where in the treatment process this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left!
Bella is Looking For: Her forever home! This happy girl (see the smile on her face?!) landed in the shelter due to no fault of her own. She's looking ahead to her new chapter, the one where she once again has her own humans for sniffy walks and romps in parks and all the adventures they can dream up. Making pup pals along the way would be great too. And - she says didja know Bella and Luna are the two most common female dog names. She says come on, she's more special than that. She wants a name of her very own - the one that, when called at the dog park, 17 dogs don't come running.
Most of all, though, she wants to know where she belongs, to be safe and loved. In exchange, she promises adoring gazes and loyal companionship for all her days. What do you say? Is this smiling pup the one you see by your side?
