Personality | Max (formally Carey) is a 2-month-old Great Pyrenees/Lab mix weighing in 25+ lbs who is embracing his new indoor life with wide-eyed curiosity and a constantly wagging tail! After spending his early weeks outdoors on a farm, everything about home life is still new — but he is absolutely here for it! Because life inside is new, he can be a bit shy at first — a quick pause to take it all in — but give him some time and he's off exploring, grabbing a toy, or bouncing over to say hello or check out what you're up to. Max is being fostered alongside his sister and has adjusted beautifully, showing just how adaptable and people-focused he is! He's also a professional-level cuddle bug. Once playtime winds down, he's all about snuggling up close and soaking in the love. Potty training is coming along quickly — he's catching on that outside means potty time and seems proud of himself when he gets it right! Max is still learning the rhythms of home life and will thrive with a yard, patience and lots of positive reinforcement!

Story | Born as an "oopsie" litter in Bennett, Colorado to a purebred brown lab daddy and a white great pyrenees mama, these babies joined MHLM to find their forever families! They are now thriving in foster.

Other Dogs | Great with other dogs! Born to a litter of 8 - these pups know how to share and play well together!

Cats | Not yet cat tested, but due to their young age and calm demeanor, they are expected to do well with kitties!

Children | Not yet tested, but due to young age and calm deneanor, he is expected to do well with kiddos!

Training | In progress!

Leash | Too little to leash walk, but will learn with time! Our rescue follows “No Paws on the Ground" (NPOG) as a safety protocol for young puppies, primarily used by veterinarians, shelters, and rescues. It means that an unvaccinated or partially vaccinated puppy should never be allowed to put their feet on the ground in any public or communal area where other dogs or animals may have been. These babies love to play in secure yards, and be snuggled and held on family walks.

Activity Level | Moderate - your typical lab! Very much puppy who loves to nap, play, repeat!

Health Notes |

Thank you! |

Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $575 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year old, $525 for 1 - 6 years old, $475 for dogs 7 - 10 years old, and $350 for 11+ years of age. Purebred dogs regardless of age are $625. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, transportation to Colorado, and supplies while in foster care (that currently average over $750 per dog).

Meeting Dogs | Foster dogs may have meet and greets by appointment to approved applicants only. To become an approved applicant - please complete the application process. We will not respond to emails about animal availability or allow meet and greets without an approved adoption application on file.

Please Note | Available dogs are updated as soon as possible and we do our best to keep it up-to-date, but occasionally dogs shown may become unavailable without notice due to a pending adoption. We can not guarantee that a dog you wish to adopt is available by the time your adoption application is submitted, processed, and approved. Your application is good for one year from the date of applying for any dog as long as it is a good fit for your family and your lifestyle.

We encourage you to put in an application even if you don't see your new family member currently, as once you are approved, we can place you on the waiting list for first priority on the selection of the dogs we do bring in. That means you can often meet a dog upon transport arrival and adopt before they even make it to this page!
