Hi, I’m Yami!

I’m a 2-year-old Lab/corgi mix, around 40 pounds of gentle, loyal love. I’m spayed, fully vaccinated, potty trained, and crate trained—and I’m proud to say I’ve mastered the art of chilling. I was rescued off the streets by The Cantu Foundation after surviving some pretty rough beginnings, including a muscle tick from distemper (I beat it! No health issues). Some people misunderstood me because of it, but not anymore—I’m finally getting the chance to show the world just how sweet and special I am.

While I’m calm and easygoing, I can be a bit unsure around new people at first. I like to take introductions slow, this is mainly because of my traumatizing past, people weren’t always nice to me —if you give me a few minutes to get comfortable, I’ll soon be your best friend. I'm not one for the chaos of busy streets or big crowds, but a calm environment (or a backyard!) is where I truly shine. I’m not into toys much, but I do love a good run around the yard or a thoughtful walk where I can sniff all the things.

My dream home?

A peaceful home with patient people who understand I like to go at my own pace. A quiet neighborhood or a home with a yard would be perfect. I could thrive as your one-and-only or potentially with another calm dog buddy. I'm still unsure about kids (so maybe a home 12+) and cats, but one thing’s for sure—I’ll give you my whole heart once we connect.
