CROSBY ROSE PETITE GIRL

Labrador Retriever, Chihuahua
🇺🇸
Friendswood, Texas
March 22nd
female, medium, baby

DESCRIPTION

Looking for a joyful, inquisitive, cuddly new family member with a webalanced energy level? Crosby Rose is 19 lbs of pure joy and ready for you! She’s almost 6 months old so we think she will stay medium sized.

She never wanders too far away in the house and if you are sitting, she will often grab a toy and come close to your feet so you can give her a boost and she can share her toy with you. She also loves when you make her a nest in your lap with a blanket. She will climb in and curl up.

She also loves to stretch her puppy legs more and is spending time playing and exploring at her foster home.

Calypso the blind kitty is one of her resident friends, as well as a fun shepherd mix you can see in the video.

She recovered amazingly well from her required amputation and it is absolutely no big deal to only have 3 legs! She loves to play with her BFF (best farm friend) and is submissive yet playful and fun.

One of her favorite places is to be is next to humans, or even in their lap. If something makes her a bit nervous, she will seek safety from her human. She is still a puppy (5 1/2 months-ish) and is still losing baby teeth so she can get a bit nibbly, but she is treat motivated and toy/play motivated so she is easily redirected.

She loves treat puzzles and tug of war. She is getting very good at fetch. Walking with a leash/harness away from the house is still new, but she is working on getting braver every day with her foster family’s help. She is blossoming more and more every day.

Check out her video where you can see her zooming around the yard with her dog friend. She’s quick! She can't jump up onto furniture or into cars (yet), so she may need a boost now and then or a set of pet steps or a ramp, but she weighs less than 20 lbs, so it isn't that big of a deal.

Barking is not a regular habit. At night for a few minutes (working on crate training) or during play occasionally. Also if she hears an unfamiliar noise, she will bark a few times. Otherwise she is a quiet companion.

There are several cats in foster mom's house, and she is pretty indifferent to them. There are a few that want to be her friend and she seems just fine with that!

Her ideal house would be one with another friendly dog that will lead and show her the dog ropes. But she would be fine as an only pet, or only dog with cats as well. Kids that can respect her limitations (even though she doesn't think she has any) and be patient with her and understand puppy nibbles may take a few more months to grow out of.

She would also do great with empty nesters! She is not a super high energy puppy. She has puppy energy but it isn't overwhelming (foster mom is 54 and doesn't mind her energy!). She would NOT thrive as an only pet for a single person that is gone a lot. She'll need play and exercise and enrichment at this age.

She is poop potty trained 98% of the time and is working hard on pee potty training (75%+), but will use a potty pad if one is out and she needs it. She may be totally potty trained by the time of adoption since we are working with her every day.

Crosby is still young and will need a family that can commit to training, socialization and all the dedication puppyhood requires. A puppy is discovering new things that shape their personalities with each passing day. Implementing routine, structure, setting boundaries, and proper socialization is key from the start. We require a commitment from adoptive families to crate train their new puppy starting immediately when arriving at their new home, which will help with potty training, energy management, and the overall development of a well-rounded adult dog. You will be guaranteed to get lots of kisses in return from your new best friend! Ready to welcome a new furry friend into your life? https://g.co/kgs/UQ5Pyai We care deeply about making the perfect match between dog and family for long term success.

Our rescue has a 2 acre property in Texas where we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group trainings and socialization play groups to keep dogs adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs and we enjoy seeing their progress!

Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond.

Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.

The rescue’s hard costs alone for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,120. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that Three Little Pitties Rescue is not government funded.

It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these SPECIAL PERKS:

Did you know that the Greater Houston area faces some of the highest stray and overpopulation rates in the nation? We are a non profit charity. Our goal is simple— to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and by rescuing animals from the streets or overcrowded shelters where euthanasia due to lack of space is often the only option. The dog you've found online is not only lucky to be in our program, but also incredibly fortunate to have caught your eye. Thank you for considering adoption and for joining us in our mission!

Follow our rescue journey and connect with us on our website and social media platforms. Together, we can make a difference, one adoption at a time.
