Meet Aiko
Aiko's story is one of resilience and second chances. This tiny black-and-white girl survived three weeks on her own in a coyote-populated area of Southern San Diego before we were able to safely bring her in. Despite efforts to locate her family, no one came forward — and it quickly became clear Aiko had once been a “pocket pup” who hadn't experienced much of the outside world.
When she arrived, Aiko was scared and unsure — she didn't know how to walk on a leash, preferred potty pads, and would freeze instead of using her legs. But with patience, consistency, and love, she has become a bubbly outgoing social diva.
Today, Aiko is:
People-loving – she rarely meets a stranger and thrives on companionship
Adventurous in spirit – your perfect “take me everywhere” or backpack buddy
Dog-friendly – enjoys canine friends, but needs one who can match her energy and help guide her boundaries
Aiko is still learning:
Potty training – she now goes on leash but needs a consistent schedule
Crate training – she's improving, but doesn't love being alone and can be vocal so NO SHARED WALLS
Confidence – she can still startle with quick movements or big energy
Her ideal home
Aiko is looking for someone patient, present, and committed to continuing her progress. She would do best in a home where she's not left alone for long periods, with structure, routine, and lots of love. No doggie doors, and she should always be leashed or in a secure area.
At her core, Aiko is a loyal, affectionate little shadow who just wants to be by your side. If you're looking for a devoted companion who will go everywhere with you and love you endlessly — Aiko is your girl.
Ready to give Aiko the life she's been waiting for?
