📌 Important Information
• All dogs are currently in foster care in Mexico 🇲🇽. They're listed in Oregon for adoption purposes as that's where our rescue is based.
• Dogs fly to Portland (PDX) once adoption is approved, arriving within 2–4 weeks. ✈️ This reduces stress for them and ensures safe travel.
💛 About The Meximutt Project (A Born Again Pit Bull Rescue initiative)
Over 18 million dogs live on Mexico’s streets. Our rescue works at the source through spay/neuter programs, rescue, and adoption into loving homes.
Since 2019: 🐶 500+ dogs adopted • ✂️ 3,500+ dogs spayed/neutered

🐾 Meet TRIGO 🐾
• AGE: ~9 months old
• WEIGHT: ~13 lbs
• BREED(S): Jack Russell Terrier mix (our best guess since they’re rescues!)
• GOOD WITH KIDS? Yes, as long as they're taught to respect the dog’s belongings and boundaries.
• HOUSEBROKEN? Not 100% yet. As rescues that lived on the street or tile/outdoor surfaces, they'll need some time to adjust. Most of our dogs adapt within 1-2 weeks of consistent training.
Someone threw him from a moving truck on the highway outside Ajijic. No collar, no explanation — just a helpless puppy left on the side of the road. When Trigo arrived at his foster home, he was so thin it seemed impossible he weighed only 7 lbs. He ate like he hadn't in days, because he probably hadn't.
He was timid at first, the kind of shy that comes from not knowing yet whether people are safe. But Trigo figured it out fast. "Once he warms up to you — and it only takes a few minutes — he just becomes this little love," says his foster Jennifer. That's still true today: he'll bark when he first meets someone new, mainly out of excitement, and then promptly decide you're his best friend.
Trigo has a full life at foster. He plays with dogs, plays with cats, plays with anyone willing to engage. His favorite hobby, bizarrely and delightfully, is climbing into the bathtub. Nobody taught him this. He just decided it was his place and claimed it.
He's almost fully housetrained and walks well on leash. At nine months old, he's still got plenty of puppy energy — the kind that makes you laugh, not the kind that makes you regret your choices.
Trigo would thrive in almost any home: families with kids, homes with other animals, first-time dog owners. He really just needs someone patient enough to let him sniff you for two minutes before he decides you're wonderful — which, for the record, he always does.
Could you be the person Trigo picks?
