DESCRIPTION

Hola! My name is IVAN, and here is some info about me:

PHYSICAL INFO:

Breed: Jack Russell Terrier Mix

Age: 7 months

Gender: Male

Weight: 18.3 lbs (8.3 kg)

Height: 50 cm (paws to top of my head)

Length: 64 cm (head to butt)

Current Location: MEXICO CITY

RESCUE STORY - My life started a bit uncertain when my mom, my siblings, and I were left in a wooden fruit box (video) in a known dumping area in Mexico City. Luckily, we were rescued in November 2025 and brought to safety. Even though I didn't have the best start, I haven't let that stop me from looking for a family to call my own. I am a 7-month-old Jack Russell Terrier mix currently looking for a patient person who understands that the best things in life are worth waiting for.

TEMPERAMENT - I am a sweet, noble, and gentle puppy. While I am very loving once I know someone, it is important to know that I can be shy and fearful with people I am not familiar with. I am not aggressive, but I need time to build trust (video, video). I also find loud noises scary. Once I feel comfortable and get to know you, I become very affectionate and enjoy human company, playing, and sleeping near my people (video).

I get along well with other dogs; I am careful when meeting new ones and friendly with those I already know. I show no resource guarding behaviours with my food, toys, or bed. I am good with kids, and while my behaviour with cats is unknown, I haven't shown signs of aggression toward them. I can walk on a leash, though this is still a work in progress. I am looking for a family that understands my shy nature and will be patient as I settle in.

ENERGY LEVEL - Medium - I find a nice balance between being active and relaxing. I really enjoy my playtime, but I am just as happy to settle down for a long sleep and some quiet affection once I've had my fun.

GETS ALONG WITH:

Kids – Yes. I have a gentle personality, and I am good with kids. As with any pet, all interactions between children and dogs should be carefully supervised by an adult to ensure that boundaries are respected and that both the child and the dog remain safe and comfortable. As I can be initially shy around strangers, I may need extra time to become comfortable with new children. Video

Dogs – Yes. I get along well with other dogs and show no resource guarding behaviours over my food, toys, or bed. Because I am shy, I am initially cautious around new dogs, but I become very friendly once we are familiar with each other. As with any new pet joining a household, all introductions with resident dogs should be handled slowly and supervised to ensure everyone feels safe and comfortable. Video Video

Cats – Unknown.

PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I'm not too sure how I'll react around squirrels/rabbits etc., so my adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise.

TRAINING:

Leash skills – Work in progress. I will need an adopter who is happy to work with me on my leash manners. A well-fitted harness and some dedicated leash training will help set me up for success! Video Video

House training – Work in progress. Frequent potty breaks and positive reinforcement will help me learn housetraining in my new home :)

Please Note: WCP highly encourages adopters to do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives.

HEALTH NOTES:

I am neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. I will come to Canada with proof of all my vaccines and test records.

I will be tested for Heartworm etc. before flying to Canada.

NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter.

ADOPTION FEE:

My adoption fee is $840.00 CAD including tax ($750.00 + 5% GST, 7% PST), which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver.
