Meet Odie — a 5-year-old Husky whose birthday just passed on January 28th! 🎉
Odie came to us as an owner surrender when life simply got too busy for his family to give him the time and attention they felt he truly deserved. Making that decision is never easy, but they wanted a better opportunity for him to have the active, fun life a Husky dreams about.
And boy… does Odie have dreams. Mostly about running, playing, and chasing squirrels like it’s an Olympic sport. 🐿️
Odie previously lived with another dog and was said to be child friendly and housebroken, which is a pretty solid résumé if you ask us. Cats, however, are not exactly on his list of favorite things. He has been around them before, but only with very close supervision — and given his enthusiasm for chasing small critters, a cat-free home would likely be best.
Here at the shelter, Odie has been exactly what you’d expect from a Husky with a big personality: one giant lovable dope. His goofy grin, happy attitude, and slightly clueless charm make everyone smile. He greets staff like we’re his long-lost best friends and has quickly become known as our resident dopy-faced sweetheart.
We haven’t had the chance for a formal dog meet-and-greet just yet, but based on what we’ve seen so far, we don’t expect this big boy to have any issues making new canine friends.
A few more honest notes about Odie:
• He loves to run and explore
• Squirrels are his life mission
• He may test a shorter fence if wildlife is involved (we suspect anything around 4 ft might not slow him down much)
• And yes… he is very overdue for a spa day ✂️🛁
Underneath that slightly scruffy Husky coat is a big baby with a goofy heart who just wants someone to run with, laugh with, and maybe occasionally yell “ODIE, NO SQUIRRELS TODAY!”
If you’re ready for a happy, silly adventure buddy, Odie might be your guy.
