Meet Lacey… a 6-year-old, 50-pound mystery mix with one striking blue eye. Lacey’s story started when she was found as a stray and brought to a rural Iowa vet clinic… where she then spent three long months living alone in a kennel room. No home, no routine, and very little of what dogs love most… people.
As soon as we learned about her, we found a foster home and brought her into rescue. Lacey made one thing very clear right away. She LOVES her people.
After being without them for so long, being left alone made her anxious. We started her on Clomipramine, and it has made a huge difference in helping her relax and feel secure again. The cost is less than $20 a month, and while we don’t think she will need it long-term, it’s been an important part of helping her settle into normal life.
Now that she feels safe, Lacey is showing us who she really is… and she’s pretty great. Lacey is great with people, good with other dogs, and a toy enthusiast. Balls and stuffies are her favorite. Lacey loves to play, but what she loves most is simply being with her people. At night, she doesn’t just sleep nearby… she sleeps right between her foster parents, like a perfectly placed, 50-pound blanket with a heartbeat.
She would enjoy a home with a physically fenced yard where she can safely run, play, and chase her beloved toys.
As for her breed… your guess is as good as ours. With that beautiful blue eye, we suspect there may be some Husky in there, but the rest is a delightful mystery. What we do know is that her coat is soft as a bunny and she barely sheds, which feels like a small miracle.
Lacey has been through a stretch of loneliness, but she has come out of it still loving, still trusting, and still ready to give her whole heart to someone.
If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will happily share your couch, your bed, and your daily life… Lacey is ready to make up for lost time.
Lacey is house and kennel trained, spayed, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, and heartworm tested.
