Glitter is a 5ish month old Husky/Pit mix from Yakima. She has been doing so wonderfully with her current long term foster. She sleeps in her crate overnight no problem and is essentially potty trained at this point. Of course, in a new environment she may need a few days to adjust to a new routine, but overall she’s been doing really well. She has improved so much and is doing great!
She loves going on walks and exploring new places. Glitter’s fosters have taken her to parks and to Golden Gardens beach a few times and she absolutely loves it. She loves saying hi to everyone she meets and is very dog friendly. She will bark when she is playing and gets excited but otherwise isn’t too vocal. She does great in the car and seems to enjoy the ride! She LOVES to play and recently has been getting the hang of fetch. Her absolute favorite toy is a flirt pole.
Glitter knows the command “sit” and is working on “down”, “shake”, “stay”, and “come”. Also…Because she’s still teething, she sometimes bites during play. When that happens, her fosters use the command “stop”, and if it continues we do a reverse timeout by turning away or briefly leaving the room to signal the end of play. This has actually been working well and the behavior has improved a lot, though she may still give a little playful chomp if she gets very excited. She’s definitely motivated by food and toys.
Her fosters say “Glitter loves chest scratches right where she has her little white patch. We’ve been joking that it’s her “off button,” because if she’s really excited and you scratch that spot she completely melts…Overall she’s been a really sweet, playful puppy and a joy to have around.”
