Weston is a sweet, gentle 3 month old husky / border collie mix that weighs 10 lbs. He is estimated to be around 40-45 lbs once he is full grown. He truly has the biggest heart packed into a tiny puppy body. This little guy is kind, attentive, and incredibly loving. Weston has a calm, gentle presence and bonds deeply with his people. He’s the type of pup who just wants to be close, soaking up affection and offering endless cuddles in return. If you sit down, Weston will be right there beside you, leaning in and settling down for a cozy nap. He gives the best snuggles and sweet puppy kisses, and affection is definitely his favorite thing. Weston has a playful side, but he’s more of an observer at first, unless another doggy friend is involved of course, then he's play, play, play mode. He likes to take things in before jumping into the fun, making him a thoughtful and easygoing companion. His calm demeanor makes him a perfect work-from-home buddy because he will happily sit next to you as you work and play with his toys or nap. Of course in between meetings he'd love to work some cuddles into your busy schedule before you hop on the next call. In new environments, Weston can be a bit cautious at first, but it doesn’t take long for his loving and silly puppy personality to shine through. He has become more brave and confident in his foster home and with continued socialization, he’s growing more confident every day. Now he walks tall with his ears perked up and tail wagging when he goes on walks with his foster mom around the neighborhood. As he gets older and gets more exposure to the big world outside, his confidence will continue to grow. Weston has so much love to give and is going to make an incredibly loyal companion. He’s ready to bring a lifetime of cuddles, companionship, and heart-melting moments to his forever family.
Weston is low to medium energy. He enjoys a nice balance of playtime and relaxation, and is really good about entertaining himself with his toys and chew bones. He is overall pretty mellow with short bursts of energy that will require longer walks or play time multiple times a day as he gets older. He loves playing with toys, romping around with his doggy friends, and cuddling on the couch with his foster mom. His favorite games are tug-o-war, chase, and play wrestling with his doggy friends. He would love to go to doggy day care a couple of days during the week or have doggy play dates if there are no other dogs in his forever home because he loves having fun with his furry friends. He also enjoys engaging in mental stimulation activities with his human, like hide and treat, treat dispensing toys, and snuffle mats. While he enjoys playing with his doggy and human friends, he’s also perfectly content to entertain himself with his favorite toys when he can't find anyone to play with. When he's ready for some down time, he will find a comfy spot in the living room to relax and chew on a bone. As he grows up, he would be a great pup to take on fun adventures exploring nature trails and going on longer hikes with his humans. He will need more practice and exposure to going to dog-friendly stores and outings in busy public places as he grows up to ensure he continues building confidence in himself once he is separated from his more outgoing, confidence sister. He's the type of pup that would thrive in a family that enjoys the outdoors, but also enjoys some lazy days cuddling on the couch too. His ideal home will have a toy box full of squeaky toys, ropes, and chew toys, and he’d be thrilled to have a BarkBox subscription to keep the fun going with new surprises every month, especially now that he is about to start teething.
Weston is dog, cat, and kid friendly. He is currently in a foster home with both small and large sized dogs, and was previously living with some kitties in his first foster home. He loves to play and cuddle with other dogs of any size and age. He is a social butterfly when it comes to making new dog friends and would benefit from having another confident, playful dog in his forever home. He has learned proper doggy communication skills and boundaries from his older doggy friends, and takes correction well if other dogs communicate that they are tired of his puppy antics. He will scamper off to find something else to play with instead when he can't find a doggy playmate. Because of his young age and friendly demeanor, he would be able to join a family that has a cat in the home. In his last foster home, he loved to play with the younger kitties and kept his distance from the older cats that did not want to deal with his silly puppy antics. Since he is a silly, playful puppy, he would do best with dog-friendly cats that have lived with dogs before as he is a puppy and will want to play with them. Weston would do well with kids of all ages. He loves to play, cuddle, and share his sweet puppy kisses with everyone he meets. He is very gentle and sweet, and would be perfect for a family with kids. He is going to start teething soon, so his humans will need to keep a watchful eye on him to make sure he doesn't chew on human kid toys laying around.
Weston is kennel trained, and is currently working on mastering potty training and leash training. He sleeps in a kennel at night with no fuss, but enjoys a treat and some toys as he settles in. When he gets older, he would love to snuggle up in bed with his humans every night so he can get in as many cuddles as possible. He is doing well with potty training and will use a potty pad if he needs to go and his foster mom doesn't let him out quick enough, but he has been doing well with notifying his fosters that he needs to go out to potty by standing, pacing, and whining at the back door. He will need to have consistent potty breaks to get on a good routine once he is in his forever home, so he will need someone that either works from home or lives nearby work so they can take him out for potty breaks on their lunch break. His foster family is starting to work on leash training, but he will need additional practice to perfect his leash walking skills as he gets older.
Weston's ideal home would be a house with a fenced in backyard to run around and play in. He would do well in an apartment, condo or townhouse as long as he gets frequent exercise and potty breaks throughout the day. He even has mastered going up and down stairs, so he won't mind if there are stairs in his forever home. It is preferred that his human either works from home, can go home on lunch break to take him out, or can take him into a dog-friendly office while he is still young. He would also love to go to doggy day care a few times a week if there are no other dogs in the home so that he can have some fun playing with other doggy friends. No public dog parks for this little boy because who wants to risk your pup catching a disease or being bullied on by other random dogs anyways. He would do love to have a family that has other dogs and kids, and would coexist well if there's a kitty in the home too. With his adaptable, laid back nature, he would be a wonderful fit for a variety of households. He would do best with a family that wants a playful pup to join in on fun outdoor adventures and understands that he is going to be an playful, active dog as he gets older. Weston is ready to give his whole heart to a family who will love him just as much in return. If you’re looking for a gentle, loyal companion who will be your shadow, your cuddle buddy, and your best little friend, Weston may be the perfect match for you.

This is a courtesy post for LAPP Dog Rescue. If you are interested in adopting Weston, please fill out an application at: https://www.loveandpuppypawsdogrescue.com/adoption-application.
TRANSPORT: Currently we have monthly transports. It will be up to the adoptive family to meet the transport to pick up your new family member. Please be advised that our dogs are adopted to their forever families prior to being transported. Unfortunately at this time, we cannot bring dogs for a typical meet and greet situation, due to the extensiveness of the transport distance and it being unfair for the dogs who are not adopted to have to make the trip back.
Please be advised that applications are reviewed in the order that they are received. To ensure we are honoring the dogs that we have committed to helping, we do have policies and procedures in place that we follow when reviewing adoption applications. LAPP Dog Rescue is ran 100% by volunteers, so please be mindful that when you submit an application that it can take a few days to be reviewed. Submitting an application is not a confirmation that the adoption will be approved/completed. Before submitting the application, please read the FULL description on PetFinder describing the dog's personality, energy level, housing requirements and our policy on meet and greets.
The cost to adopt is $830 - $850, which includes $400 adoption fee, a $230 - $250 transport fee, and a $200 refundable neuter deposit. The adoption fee includes all age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, flea/heartworm prevention, health certificate from a licensed veterinarian, plus any necessary vet care while in the rescue's care. The $200 refundable neuter deposit will be paid directly to the adopter's vet before the neuter appointment once he is old enough to undergo the procedure. The transport fee for PNW transports is $250. Transport for all other states is $230.
