Daphne is a super sweet and cuddly 3 month old husky / border collie mix that weighs 13 lbs. She is expected to be around 45-50 lbs when is she full grown. Daphne is always ready for fun and cuddles. She’s a wonderful mix of playful, laid back, and cuddly. She is super affectionate, loving and absolutely adores being doted on by her humans. She finds every chance to snuggle up next to them for some belly rubs. She loves spending time outdoors, where her curious and adventurous side really shines. She enjoys rolling around in the grass, running in the sunshine, and exploring her surroundings. Her foster home is located near a river, and she especially loves wandering along the riverbank and loves to admire her reflection in the water. She is very curious, confident, and intelligent, and she takes in the world around her with fascination and excitement. With her interest in the outdoors and natural curiosity, Daphne would thrive with a family that enjoys outdoor activities. Hiking trails, nature walks, beach days, camping trips, or even just exploring new neighborhoods would make her so happy. She’d also love tagging along to dog-friendly shops, patios, or weekend outings. She simply wants to be wherever her people are and is always happy to go along for the ride on every adventure. If you’re searching for a loving, affectionate, and adventure-ready best friend who will grow up by your side and share every chapter of life with you, Daphne just might be your perfect match.
Daphne is medium energy, so she has short bursts of puppy energy that are quickly burned with brief exercise and play sessions. Playtime and exploring nature are Daphne’s favorite activities. She enjoys play wrestling, tug-of-war, and gleefully chasing her doggy friends in happy circles until everyone tires out and sprawls out in the grass for a puppy nap. Outside, she’s curious, fun, and adventurous, always ready to explore what’s next. Indoors, however, she shows her gentler side, staying close to her people, soaking up attention, and happily settling in for cuddles and belly rubs. She loves playing fun mental stimulation games that involve yummy treats, playing in the backyard, and finding the perfect stick to chew on as she's soaking up the sunshine. She also loves to play with other dogs and her face lights up when she meets a new furry friend. While she enjoys playing with her doggy friends, she’s also perfectly content to entertain herself with her favorite toys when she can't find another pup to play with. As Daphne grows and masters her leash skills, she’ll be excited to expand her adventures beyond the backyard. She is very food motivated and is eager to engage in training activities as long as food is involved. She would love to join her humans for casual neighborhood walks in the evenings or exploring longer nature trails on the weekends. Hiking through the woods, splashing around near the water, or strolling through town for some new sights and smells, Daphne will always be happy to go along for the ride. With her adaptable energy level, she’s just as content with a short playtime activities as she is going on a bigger, more adventurous outings.
Daphne is dog, cat, and kid friendly. She loves other furry friends and would love to have another playful dog in her forever home. She is currently in a foster home with both small and medium sized dogs, and also some kitties. She loves to play and cuddle with other dogs of any size and age. She is a social butterfly when it comes to making new dog friends and would benefit from having another playful dog in her forever home. She has learned proper doggy communication skills and boundaries from her older doggy friends, and takes correction well if other dogs communicate that they are tired of her puppy antics. She will scamper off to find something else to play with instead when she can't find a doggy playmate. She would be perfectly fine being the only dog in the home, but she would benefit from having frequent play dates with other dogs as she grows up. Because of her young age and friendly demeanor, she would be able to join a family that has a cat in the home. She loves to play with the younger kitties and respects the space of the older cats that do not appreciate her puppy antics as much. Since she is a sweet, playful puppy, she would do best with dog-friendly cats that have lived with dogs before. Daphne would do well with kids of all ages. She loves to play and share her sweet puppy kisses with everyone she meets. She is very gentle and sweet, and would be perfect for a family with kids. She is going to start teething soon, so her humans will need to keep a watchful eye on her to make sure she doesn't chew on human kid toys laying around.
Daphne is kennel trained, leash trained, and is doing well with potty training. She sleeps in a kennel at night with no fuss, but enjoys a treat and some toys as she settles in. When she gets older, she would love to snuggle up in bed with her humans every night so she can get in as many cuddles as possible. She is doing well with potty training and has learned to alert at the back door to notify her fosters that she needs to go out to potty. She will need to have consistent potty breaks to get on a good routine once she is in her forever home, so she will need someone that either works from home or lives nearby work so they can take her out for potty breaks on their lunch break. Her foster family started leash training, with her and she's doing well with leashed walks and exploring down by the river, but she will need additional practice to perfect her leash walking skills in more public places as she gets older.
Daphne's ideal home would be a house with a fenced in backyard to run around and play in. She would do well in an apartment, condo or townhouse as long as she gets frequent exercise and potty breaks throughout the day. It is preferred that her human either works from home, can go home on lunch break to take her out, or can take her into a dog-friendly office while she is still young. She would also love to go to doggy day care a few times a week if there are no other dogs in the home so that she can have some fun playing with other doggy friends. No public dog parks for this little girl because who wants to risk your pup catching a disease or being bullied on by other random dogs anyways. She would do love to have a family that has other dogs and kids, and would coexist well if there's a kitty in the home too. With her adaptable, laid back nature, she would be a wonderful fit for a variety of households. She would do best with a family that wants a playful pup to join in on fun outdoor adventures and understands that she is going to be an active dog as she gets older. Daphne is ready to find a loving forever home where she can continue growing, exploring, and sharing her big heart. With her affectionate nature and adventurous spirit, she’s sure to bring endless joy, laughter, and love to the lucky family who welcomes her in.

TRANSPORT: Currently we have monthly transports. It will be up to the adoptive family to meet the transport to pick up your new family member. Please be advised that our dogs are adopted to their forever families prior to being transported. Unfortunately at this time, we cannot bring dogs for a typical meet and greet situation, due to the extensiveness of the transport distance and it being unfair for the dogs who are not adopted to have to make the trip back.
Please be advised that applications are reviewed in the order that they are received. To ensure we are honoring the dogs that we have committed to helping, we do have policies and procedures in place that we follow when reviewing adoption applications. LAPP Dog Rescue is ran 100% by volunteers, so please be mindful that when you submit an application that it can take a few days to be reviewed. Submitting an application is not a confirmation that the adoption will be approved/completed. Before submitting the application, please read the FULL description on PetFinder describing the dog's personality, energy level, housing requirements and our policy on meet and greets.
The cost to adopt is $830 - $850, which includes $400 adoption fee, a $230 - $250 transport fee, and a $200 refundable spay deposit. The adoption fee includes all age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, flea/heartworm prevention, health certificate from a licensed veterinarian, plus any necessary vet care while in the rescue's care. The $200 refundable spay deposit will be paid directly to the adopter's vet before the spay appointment once she is old enough to undergo the procedure. The transport fee for PNW transports is $250. Transport for all other states is $230.
