Mina / Female / Approx. 4 Years / 55lbs / Hound Mix / Good with Dogs / Untested with Kids / Untested with Cats / From Mexico / Fostered in Toronto
Some dogs bounce into your life with big energy. Mina quietly walks in, curls up beside you, and somehow becomes your whole heart.
Mina was found wandering the streets of Mexico while very pregnant. She was taken in by our partners and sent to Canada once she was ready. She is an incredibly gentle, affectionate girl whose favorite place in the world is right beside her person. Sit down on the couch and she will softly place a paw on your lap, leaning in for cuddles and happily settling in for a nap. If you let her, she would spend the entire day curled up with you.
Inside the home, Mina is calm, polite, and wonderfully easy to live with. She enjoys the simple things in life. Cozy naps, chewing on a bone, or working on her snuffle ball to find hidden treats. Every so often she bursts into a playful moment, happily running around before returning to her favourite activity: cuddling.
Mina is still gaining confidence with the outside world. Busy environments can feel overwhelming for her, so she would do best in a calmer home where she can explore life at her own pace. With patience and kindness, she continues to grow braver every day.
Once Mina feels comfortable with someone, her loving personality really shines. She greets familiar people with excitement and happily “asks” for cuddles in the sweetest way.
She also loves water, so a home near a lake, cottage, or even a backyard pool would be a dream come true for this girl.
Mina is looking for a home where she can feel safe, loved, and close to her people. The kind of place where quiet companionship means everything.
If you’re looking for a loyal, gentle dog who will happily share your couch and your heart, Mina may be the perfect match.
Prior to coming into care, Mina tested positive for Ehrlichia and Anaplasmosis. They are both a tick borne disease that stays in the bloodstream for many years. A CBC is performed to see if there is an active infection. Mina's CBC came back indicating that there is no active infection. Ehrlichia positive dogs may develop chronic kidney disease at some point of their life. It is recommended that any dog that has tested positive for Ehrlichia and Anaplasmosis have annual wellness blood work along with a 4dx blood test once a year unless clinical signs arise. If clinical signs of Ehrlichia and Anaplasmosis arise bloodwork should be done sooner. Also note that she should have pre-op blood work including a CBC and platelet count before any surgery or dental extractions. (due to a risk of low platelet count).
