Santa Rosa (we call her Rosa) is white with tan markings female pup. She has a smooth coat with short legs and a long body. She is of unknown mix, her sister looks a lot like a Plott hound (she doesn’t), but she has hound in her for sure, due to ears a head shape. The vets estimate that she was born 12/10/25 +/- 3 days at most. Rosa and her 6 liter mates were left at a dump in Kentucky. HART rescued them on 1/22/26 at 6 weeks old. Rosa weighed 4 pounds at 6 weeks old and 17 pounds at 13 weeks old, so we estimate she is going to be a medium sized dog fully grown in the 40-50 pound range.
Rosa is a confident, easy going fun loving pup. She likes children, adults, and other dogs. Although she is a bit cautious when first meeting a new dog (especially a loud dog), she is soon wanting to play with them. She enjoys playing, chasing, and wrestling with her siblings. She has been around 5 adult dogs (40-55 lbs.) during play dates. She is a little spooked by loud noises. Rosa has been around 5 younger children (4-11 years old) and takes rough handling well. She is a sweet gentle pup. She has just started walking on a lead so he will needs additional training.
Rosa is crate trained and has started working on house training. She rides well in the car. Rosa’ activity level is about average, will play in the yard with other dogs if around, but laid back if by herself in the house. Rosa would do well with another dog that likes to play. She sleeps through the night in her crate (9:30 to 7:00). She is very quit in the crate. She enjoys chew toys, tug-of-war, and chewing on sticks. She is highly food motivated, so training should be easy. Rosa would do best with a fenced yard, as she loves to wonder around sniffing and playing with anything she can find. If you think Rosa could be a good fit, please submit an application and the foster will bring him to your house for a visit.
All HART dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on all vaccines, including bordatella and rabies. They are heartworm tested and on preventative for heartworm, fleas, and ticks.
