Meet Mabel

Mabel is a 2-year-old, 60 lb Great Pyrenees mix with the sweetest soul and the most endearing little personality once you earn her trust. She’s one-quarter Pyrenees and three-quarters lovable mutt — and 100% worth the patience it takes to watch her blossom.

Mabel spent the first two years of her life surviving as a stray, which left her understandably timid and under-socialized when she first came into rescue. Since then, she has had months of dedicated socialization work and has made incredible progress. Every day she grows a little braver, a little more confident, and a little more eager to show her affectionate side.

Once Mabel warms up to you, she absolutely adores her people. She starts doing the cutest little butt wiggles, she flashes the sweetest shy smiles, and she happily melts into belly rubs. It’s truly special to watch her personality come out.

Mabel enjoys going for walks and does well on leash. She’s also potty trained and comfortable in a heavy-duty metal crate when needed (she is clever enough to escape a standard wire crate due to some separation anxiety).

Because of her past, Mabel can still be nervous around loud noises, new people, and unfamiliar animals, and she may try to hide when she feels overwhelmed. With patience, kindness, and a calm environment, she continues to gain confidence.

She does wonderfully with cats, gets along well with other dogs (especially calm, low-to-medium energy companions), and she was even around farm animals during her time as a stray and did great with them. Mabel is naturally very submissive and gentle.

She already knows “come,” “sit,” and “stay,” and she would do best in a home with older children who can understand that she needs a slow, gentle introduction to new things.

Mabel is the kind of dog whose journey makes her especially rewarding to love. The family who gives her the time and patience she deserves will be rewarded with one of the most loyal, sweet, and quietly affectionate companions you could ever hope for.

*Disclaimer: Mabel is currently located in Texas and can be adopted either locally or out of state. We coordinate everything with our ground transport teams to ensure they arrive to the adopter safely and we keep the adopter in the loop every step of the way. Transport costs are included in the adoption fees. We also have our fosters video chat with potential adopters prior to adoption so that the adopter gets to see the animals and ensure it’s a fit. We allow adoption fees to be paid via goods and services if desired to give our adopters extra security and protection.
