Queso is a charming fellow who is currently in boarding and would love nothing more than to find his foster or forever home where he can share all his love and affection. Queso is a wonderful companion who's already housebroken and leash trained, making him ready to settle right into your routine. True to his breed's independent nature, Queso is a free thinker with his own adorable opinions—he'll sit for treats when the mood strikes, or he might decide standing is just as good! He comes when called because he absolutely loves pets (and did we mention he wants lots of them?). With a medium activity level, Queso enjoys quick bursts of playful energy followed by quality chill time. He'd do well in a home with a 4-foot fence where he can enjoy both indoor and outdoor time with his favorite humans. Queso gets along well with dogs, especially female companions with similar or lower energy levels, and he's an absolute gentleman when meeting new people—he loves everyone he encounters! This sweet boy is gentle, doesn't dig, and has an endearing squeaky bark when he wants your attention. He's an absolute star at the groomer, enjoying brushing and "pet-a-cures" with equal enthusiasm, and he's a great car companion (though he might try to help you drive, so keep an eye on him!). Queso is a laid-back guy with no known fears or behavior issues, and his favorite snacks include anything you serve him, though burgers top his list! His most heart-melting trait? He'll bury his head against you and stand there soaking up all the love you can give. The ideal home for this smaller-sized Pyr would include people who are home more often than not, either as an only dog or with a female companion of similar age, a yard for running or regular leash walks, and older children if any. Queso is simply searching for his person to love and be loved by—could that be you?

Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature (www.nationalpyr.org/know-the-breed) and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority.
