Meet Rubita

Rubita is a 114-lb Great Pyrenees mix with the kind of presence that makes you stop and stare. With her striking black-and-white coat, soulful amber eyes, and big teddy-bear build, she's the definition of a gentle livestock guardian beauty.

She's sweet, people-loving, and dog-friendly, carrying herself with that calm, steady confidence guardian breeds are known for. Rubita doesn't demand attention - she earns it simply by being near you.

Rubita was picked up in Acadia Parish and landed in a rural shelter, where she was heartbreakingly placed on the euthanasia list. Thankfully, Take Paws Rescue stepped in just in time and saved her life - and she's been showing us every day how grateful she is.

She is heartworm positive, but treatment has already started and is fully covered by the rescue, and she will be spayed soon. What she needs now is something she's never truly had before: a safe place to land and someone to call her own.

Rubita is a classic livestock guardian-type dog - loyal, affectionate, and stunning inside and out. Honestly? It doesn't get much more beautiful than this.

All known details about our animals are posted on their profile and updated daily. Other info will be discussed in detail with the foster during the application review process. Due to the high volume of introductions/questions received we ask you to submit an application (that application can be used for any dog with Take Paws Rescue).

The adoption fee for adult dogs covers age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, spay/neuter if not yet performed, heartworm test & appropriate heartworm treatment by the rescue's vet. All dogs in our care are also kept up-to-date on HW/Flea Prevention.

***Take Paws Rescue saves dogs from high-kill shelters across the South, owner surrenders, and discarded dogs with uncertain futures. All of our animals live in foster homes where they are socialized, and well cared for. An application will be required to make sure it's the perfect match!
