Zane. 🖤
One year old. Pony-sized. And completely, unapologetically velcro.
This sweet Great Dane mix came to us through no fault of his own, after his owner passed away.
Zane already knows so much and has incredible focus...especially when treats are involved. For a growing puppy who’s always hungry, his patience is impressive. He looks at you like you hung the moon. Or maybe like you’re holding the treats. Either way, the devotion is real.
He can be a little unsure about new things… a shadow, a decoration, something unexpected. But the moment he feels uncertain, he checks in. He looks to his person for reassurance and then comes the famous Dane lean.
That’s who he is. A big, sensitive, loyal heart who just wants someone to stand beside.
Chicago Animal Care and Control is located at 2741 S. Western Ave., Chicago, IL, and is open from 12pm to 7pm daily. Walk-in visitors are welcome and helped on a first-come, first-served basis. If you are planning to adopt the day you visit, please plan to arrive before 5:30pm. Visitors arriving after 5:30pm will still be able to view animals in Pavilions A-B-C until 7pm.
All dogs will be spayed/neutered and vaccinated before adoption.
All household members should be present to meet dogs (especially those under 18 and any decision-makers).
We recommend and can arrange dog-to-dog meet and greets for your current dog(s) to meet a potential dog sibling at the shelter. You will need to show proof of up-to-date rabies vaccination for your dog(s). Slow, cautious, and appropriate introductions are recommended after you allow time for decompression for the shelter dog.
