Meet Ryder
Location: Bethlehem, CT (Northeast adopters preferred)
Ryder is a stunning merle Great Dane with a big frame, a playful spirit, and a heart that just wants to belong. This handsome boy has come a long way and continues to make incredible progress every day.
The Basics
- Crate trained
- Leash trained
- Sprenger collar trained
- Professional board and train graduate from Reenee's Haven.
- Friendly with people and older children
Ryder is smart, playful, and eager to please. He thrives on attention and truly wants to connect with his person. He has made significant strides through professional training and continues to grow with consistent structure and leadership.
His Story
Ryder and his brother were rescued from a neglectful situation where they were forced to live outside and fend for themselves. Thankfully, they were brought to safety and placed into a board-and-train program where they could decompress, rehabilitate, and learn how to be companion dogs.
Because of his past, Ryder can show some resource guarding of human attention around other dogs. With firm, clear correction and structure, he responds appropriately. He has done well around a submissive large-breed female; however, he will do best in a home committed to maintaining consistent training and boundaries from the start.
Ideal Home
- Experienced large-breed or Dane-savvy owner
- Older, respectful children
- Possibly a submissive large-breed female (case by case)
- No small animals, cats, or livestock
- Structured home committed to continued training
Ryder is not bonded with his sibling Ice, and is best suited for his own home where he can continue building confidence and trust with his human. He deserves a family who will never let him feel neglected again, a home where he can relax, feel safe, and fully step into the loving companion he is meant to be.
This boy has endured more than he should have, yet he remains affectionate, responsive, and ready to give his heart to someone willing to guide him.
Ryder is not looking for perfect. He is looking for committed.
