*AGE: 7 years old (born 10/2018)
*WEIGHT: 76 lbs. (ideal weight is 65 lbs. or so)
*FENCE REQUIREMENT: Charli would love a physical fence and yard to explore and enjoy all the sights and smells.
*COAT TYPE: soft and low-shedding. You should be prepared to have her groomed regularly (every 8-10 weeks) with an estimated cost of $120/groom.
*ENERGY LEVEL: Charli is a very easy going kind of gal. She's happy to explore the world around her but takes solid naps. She has low-mild energy levels.
*DOGS: Great! She doesn't seek to play with her foster dog siblings but very much enjoys their company. Her foster siblings range from 20 - 55 lbs. She doesn't resource guard food or toys and is happy to share space with everyone she meets.
*CATS: Charli would do best in a home without cats as she has gotten a hold of some bunnies in her previous home.
*KIDS: Yes! Dog-savvy kids are best as she is on the larger side and can easily knock them over with her size. Her foster family has kids ranging from 7 - 14 yrs old and does well. She is always so happy when they get home from school, and proudly carries her toys and prances around the house. It's so cute.
*CAR: Charli does great in the car and loves to go for rides. She might need a little help getting in but sure does love to watch the world go by or just lay down nicely.
*CRATE: Charli has not been in a crate in her foster home. She has been left out of the crate with her foster dog siblings when her foster family is out of the house for a few hours and has done well. (Just make sure she doesn't have access to open trash bins and socks are picked up!) She sleeps on the floor in the fosters’ bedroom and sleeps all night.
*HOUSE TRAINED: Yes! We expect that there may be accidents as she transitions to her new home.
*LEASH: Charli would love to continue learning leash manners. She loves walks and gets excited whenever it's time but she pulls when outside. She will also not go to the bathroom while on a leash.
Captivating Charli-Maryland is a 7-year-old female Goldendoodle who weighs 76 lbs. Charli would love to lose a couple of pounds to be the very best version of herself. She was surrendered to IDOG by her owners who loved her very much but were relocating to a new country. If you're looking for a new companion to just slide into life with you, Charli is your gal. She is friendly, very easy-going, and loves her routines.
Charli would do best in a home where she can hang out with her family thru the day and/or go on their adventures. Are you retired? She is too! Gotta run errands? She'll go with or hold down the fort and power down till you return! Work from home? She's the best kind of coworker! She's quiet and likes to watch the world go by or take a solid snooze on her bed.
Charli shares her bed and toys with her foster siblings easily. She seems to enjoy being a part of a pack and isn't needy. She would love NOTHING more than to eat whatever you're eating but will go lay down once told. She eats in the same area with her foster siblings and does great. She would love some reminders to keep her paws off the counter if something yummy to eat is up there- but sometimes those intrusive thoughts get the best of all of us.
Charli loves a good routine. She puts herself to bed every night around 7 pm in our bedroom, only to lift her head and go back to sleep when we come in. She wakes with the household and scoots out for a quick bathroom break. Breakfast is shared shortly after and then back outside for some more good sniffs and fresh air. She would love to be in a home with another dog, but would also be just as content if it were just her. She's been by far the easiest house guest!
Charli isn't needy in the way of affection but loves to be a part of it all. She does like to look for bathroom trash and find socks- but that's the worst of it! She wouldn't mind working on recall a bit more- but each day gets better! At 7 years old, she's calm, confident, and remarkably adaptable — the kind of dog who transitions into a new home with ease. She's independent by nature and doesn't demand pets or lap time, but she's very much a presence — content to lounge nearby while you cook, work, or watch TV. If you love having a chill companion who's just there with you, she's your girl!

ADOPTION FEE: $550
ADOPTION FEE EXPLANATION:
Puppies and highly adoptable dogs have a higher adoption fee to help IDOG cover the vetting and expenses of the other dogs in IDOG whose adoption fees do not cover their expenses. Our expenses are high these days due to increased vetting expenses, board and train costs, medical/health issues and surgery that are needed for some of our dogs. IDOG relies heavily on donations to bridge the gap between our adoption fees and our expenses. Unfortunately, donations are down across the board for all rescues.
