DESCRIPTION

Meet Sandy, the girl who got her name because she reminded us so much of Sandy from the movie Annie. You know, that sweet, hopeful scruffy stray just waiting for her forever family? That's our girl! And truly... you are going to love her. Sandy has this happy, open-hearted way about her that makes you fall in love. She's wiggly, affectionate, full of life, and just bursting with "pick me, pick me!" energy in the most endearing way. She doesn't just walk into a room, she arrives with enthusiasm and a whole lot of heart, ready for whatever is to come.

HISTORY
Sandy was found as a stray in Pasco, but no one came forward to claim her. She is estimated to be approximately 2 years old, and her DOB is listed as January 28, 2024. She has been housed in a home with several other pets, but kept separate because the household pets aren't happy she's there.

SOCIALIZATION
We don't know anything about her life before now. Her current caretakers state that she seems friendly with their pets, but most of them are special needs or elderly. Their young unaltered female doodle dislikes Sandy, so they never pushed introductions and kept her separate from the other pets for safety. During her assessment, she was excitable around the other dogs, and she wanted to play. We believe she would thrive in a home with a confident and energetic canine playmate.

Due to her energy level and tendency to get excited, Sandy would do best in a home with older children she can't accidentally knock over. She is not trying to bulldoze anyone, she's just a happy girl who sometimes forgets how to apply the brakes.

GENERAL TEMPERAMENT AND BEHAVIOR
Sandy is high energy and needs an outlet. She is not a "short walk and nap all day" kind of dog. She will thrive with structure, routine, exercise, enrichment, and continued training. Think adventure buddy, hiking partner, or active family companion.

Despite her current situation, she remains friendly and social. She wants interaction and engagement. She just wants to be included, and it's important that you do include her so that she can learn what is expected of her.

She would do best in a home that understands doodle-type energy and is prepared to meet both her physical and mental stimulation needs. Training will be key - not because she's "bad," but because she's young, smart, and ready to learn.

TRAINING
Sandy's caretakers work very long hours and don't have the time to work with her on leash skills or crate training. They allow her to stay in their bathroom while they're at work, and take her to the yard to play and go potty on a rotation opposite to their household dogs.

Because Sandy is a high energy pup with little to no training under her belt, we highly recommend you take the time to take her to a training class. This will not only benefit her, but also you as her parent(s). Training classes heavily focus on teaching us humans how to communicate and read communication so that we can be successful with our canine companions.

HEALTH STATUS
Sandy is vaccinated, microchipped, and treated for parasites. She will be spayed. She appears to be in good health and weighs approximately 40 lbs. Based on available information, we've designated January 28, 2024 as her DOB. Sandy does not ride well in the car, and has gotten car sick every time she rides in it.
