DESCRIPTION
General Notes | Want to adopt this dog? Please do not email us. Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP, and an Adoption Coordinator will be in touch within a few days. Our standard application processing timeline is 12 - 14 days.
Personality | Scout is so sweet and the best girl! She has a classic golden retriever personality and is a total lover! She loves toys and always had a stuffed animal in her mouth!
Story | Mama Scout was dumped heavily pregnant in rural Texas.
Other Dogs | Friendly with other dogs!
Cats | Scout is good with the cat in her foster home. She mostly ignores the kitty.
Children | Amazing with kids! She absolutely adores kiddos!
Training | Potty trained and does well in the crate.
Leash | She gets a little nervous sometimes and you have to coax her to keep going, but otherwise does wells
Activity Level | Moderate. She loves to play with other dogs! There's a young pup in her foster home she's become fast friends with!
Health Notes | Scout is Heartworm Positive. BUT, treatment is very successful and completely manageable with all the proper education and care. MHLRM will cover the expense of treatment at one of our approved veterinarians. Heartworm positive dogs go on to live happy, normal lives after treatment and rarely experience long-term side effects. Don't let this stop you from adopting this sweet girl.
Thank you! |
Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $575 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year old, $525 for 1 - 6 years old, $475 for dogs 7 - 10 years old, and $350 for 11+ years of age. Purebred dogs regardless of age are $625. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, transportation to Colorado, and supplies while in foster care (that currently average over $750 per dog).
ABOUT: GOLDEN RETRIEVER DOG BREED
The Golden Retriever is a friendly, intelligent, and gentle dog breed known for its golden colored, water repellent coat. They are highly sociable and great with families, children, and other pets, making them popular as therapy and service dogs. With a love for outdoor activities and water, Golden Retrievers excel in various dog sports like agility and obedience. They require regular exercise, mental stimulation, and grooming to maintain their health and happiness. Overall, the Golden Retriever is a versatile and beloved companion dog breed.
The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
