Charlie - German Shorthaired Pointer and Boxer Dog for Adoption in Hobart, Indiana

Meet Charlie!
This cutie came in as an owner surrender after his humans fell on hard times and couldn't care for him any more.

Charlie is an active, playful young guy who loves chasing balls and carrying toys of all sorts around in his mouth. He has learned "sit". He and is dog friendly!

We love his wrinkly face, floppy ears, selectively wavy coat, and truncated tail.

Charlie recently went on a Dog Day Out the beach with a couple of our volunteers. Here's what they had to say, "Charlie was a star today — he got countless compliments on his good looks as we walked through the beach crowd, and he soaked up all the admiration with confident charm. He greeted everyone happily, including a group who just had to stop and pet him. He’s such a happy, energetic, yet wonderfully well-mannered boy. And he absolutely loves carrying his ball!"

Here's what another Dog Day Out volunteer had to say, "If you look up good boy in the dictionary, you’ll probably find Charlie’s picture. We went on a quick walk on the trail before grabbing an ice cream cone to cool down. He did great in the car and on a leash, but was definitely disappointed when a passerby wouldn’t stop to say hi. What a lover boy!"

Their keen sense of smell and natural hunting instincts make them ideal for hunting birds and small game. Socialization and mental stimulation are essential for the well being of this breed.
