Meet Sierra
Age: under a year old (approximately 7 to 8 months)
Spayed Female
Weight: 30 to 40 pounds and growing a bit more
Breed: Shepard mix.
We are still working on House Training, but she learned the doggy door really fast and she loves the easy access to outside.
Sierra is a bit of a nervous Nellie and is still gaining confidence in herself and trust with others. She’s a lovely girl who needs a patient, loving home to help her continue to shine her brightest.
I have not seen her around Children yet, but she is a sweet little girl.
When Left Alone how does she react: well she has yet to be alone, When I leave the house she is with my 2 big dogs in a confined space, and she is always asking them to play.
How does she Play With Other Dogs: so far she is Happy go lucky with my dogs, I have only had her a week but she is willing to take instruction from my dogs.
Meeting New People: so far that has been a little shut down/nervous but willing meet, however, she has not been in a large group yet.
Can She be Left Alone: She seems Ok when I leave, and I have been away for 5 hours, but again she has always had other dogs around.
How Long in Crate: currently she is sleeping in a crate next to my bed and she can remain there for 8 hours easy, if you provide toys to chew, as her sleep cycle is about 3 hours. She did have potty accidents the first 2 nights, but by the 3 night she was happy to be safe in the crate and willing wait all night.
When she is awake she will chew on a toy for about 25-30 minutes then role over a sleeps again. It took Sierra about 3 days to learn the crate is SAFE. If there is any disruption in the house she runs to the crate.
With Cats: she has seen my cat but does not show interest unless my cat is acting up.
Energy Level: is Medium to High,
Leash: we are still learning the leash and going for walks. Again a little nervous outside the fence, on the street, always looking to hide when noises start.
Car Rides: she has only been in a crate so far in the car, she was nervous but settled down for the ride.
Training: we have only done minimal training so far as we have been doing exposure training first behavior training second.
Play: so far she has teased my dogs to get them to play, and when they are done and go lay down, she will find a chew toy and settle down with that about 30 minutes.
Food: she is currently eating a cup of dry food with a topper of 2 tablespoons of wet morning and night.
She has learned a few Words: Outside/Breakfast/Dinner. I actually take them outside at night before bed so “go potty” is known.
Sierra will make someone a loving companion, once she feels safe. She would love to be a lap dog but seems to understands that it is not always possible.
