Chiquita-known here as Kita-is a soft-hearted girl with a gentle presence that seems to settle the room just a little when she walks in.

She came to us from Louisiana after being surrendered to a shelter there through no fault of her own, simply because her previous family could no longer keep her. Despite that sudden change in her world, Kita carries herself with a quiet sweetness, like she's still choosing trust even while everything around her has shifted.

Kita is still getting settled into her new environment and learning that she is safe again. Each day she's beginning to show more of her personality as she adjusts to new routines, new people, and a new sense of stability. There's something very tender about her-she doesn't demand attention, but she deeply appreciates it when it comes her way.

As she continues to decompress, we are learning more about the kind of home that will help her shine. For now, she's simply a sweet girl taking things one step at a time, letting the world come back into focus at her own pace.

Kita is ready for a calm, patient home that will let her continue unfolding into the dog she's meant to be-one gentle moment at a time.
