Gunner bio
Gunner is a 5yo neutered male GSD that was broken literally and figuratively by his owners. He was dumped at a high kill shelter with pelvic fractures, hip issues, and starved half to death by his owners weighing only 54lbs (he should weigh 85-95lbs). He needed his heart and soul along with his physical body replenished or he would be euthanized at the shelter. We stepped up and I am his foster. He now weighs 75-80lbs and could put on another 20lbs easily. No longer can you count every rib and hip bone on his poor neglected body.
He is up to date on all shots, heartworm negative, crate trained, and potty trained. His pelvic fractures have all healed with appropriate non-surgical care including crate rest and medications with a follow up x-ray showing all fractures to be healed and his hip strain resolved. We are fixing his physical ailments but his heart and soul to be fixed takes longer.
He is learning to trust humans again and is progressing well with his trust and confidence.
He plays well with other dogs medium and large and small both male and female. His favorite playmates though are the ladies! He does live with a rag doll kitty that harasses him and he just ignores her; on occasion he will chase her for fun! Sudden movements or grabbing him by the collar may scare him so we recommend older children who know how to behave with a GSD!
His ideal home could be with a gal doggie buddy or he could be an only dog. He would prefer calmer environments, daily leash walks, laying leisurely in his fenced yard, and ample food and goodies!
His forever home can be with a single person, a couple, or family with older children.
This beautiful boy has a heart of gold and needs his forever family!
On behalf of Karen Perl, the adoption fee is $350. Transport can be arranged after the adoption is finalized. If you prefer to arrange your own transport, the adoption fee will remain the same. Thank you so much for your valuable support in helping these dogs find loving homes.
