Lala was saved from Devore Shelter along with her siblings. When she first left the shelter, she was absolutely terrified. There was no way to leash her — she would alligator roll in fear, and when people got close, she was so overwhelmed she would defecate and urinate out of fear.
This is trauma. And this is exactly why time, patience, and understanding matter.
Lala is currently working with Trainer Kim Soyoung, and she has made amazing progress — on her own terms. This is what people don’t always understand: healing doesn’t happen overnight. Trust takes time.
What we know about Lala:
• Timid, sensitive girl
• Making steady progress with professional training
• Fantastic with other dogs
• She needs to be in a home with other dogs — they give her confidence
• Her past is unknown, but it likely wasn’t a good one
Lala does have a foster in New Jersey with one of our incredible fosters, but we are also looking for a foster-to-adopt home that understands shy, fearful dogs and is willing to let her blossom at her own pace.
Northeast fosters urgently needed
