Rocio – 8 Year Old German Shepherd
Rocio is an 8-year-old German Shepherd weighing about 85 pounds, and she has a gentle heart that just needs a little time to feel safe again.
She was surrendered by her family after neighbors complained about her. They chose to keep their other dog, and Rocio suddenly found herself confused and scared in a new place at 8 years old. It’s been a big adjustment for her.
When Rocio first meets you, she may seem unsure. But if you sit quietly with her and give her space, you’ll see her soften. Once she feels safe, she is incredibly sweet and calm — especially for a shepherd. She enjoys quiet companionship and simply being near someone she trusts.
She responds to her Spanish name, Rocio, which makes her extra special. She is good with other dogs. We are unsure about cats at this time.
Rocio is heartworm positive and is currently receiving treatment here at the shelter. She will need a family committed to keeping her on regular veterinary care and preventatives moving forward. With proper care and monitoring, heartworm-positive dogs can live happy, full lives.
She enjoys being outside and going for walks. A fenced yard would be ideal for her so she can explore and relax safely.
Rocio may not be a young puppy anymore, but she has so much love left to give. She just needs someone patient enough to show her that she is home for good.
Rocio is located in Gainesville, TX, but we offer transportation services all over the U.S.
