The personality. The face. The size. The EARS! Everything about Henry Jo from head to toe, inside out, it literal perfection. Shepherd lovers better hurry up because he won't be available for long. He is snuggly, dog friendly, cat approved, loves the outdoors, smart. The list can quite literally go on and on and on. Biggest flex this boy has are those amazing floppy ears. Always somewhat in a sad down like position somehow still perky? Regardless, he has the best ears ever.
Watch his video and you'll be instantly obsessed, wanting to take him home: https://youtu.be/NdgcGxMFqJc?si=LA3rkfJmQGD1iLq6
Henry Jo is a German Shepherd mix approximately 2 years old and currently weighs 60 lbs. He's a big boy but the gentlest big boy. Henry is a rescue dog and with any rescue dog, it's always a mystery and we cannot guarantee breed or age.
Henry is very dog friendly and has done great with all the dogs we have introduced him to. He has been in playgroups with dogs all with different personalities and has done great with every single one. Henry is wonderful about meeting new dogs and will either play with them or will go off and do his own thing. That's what is so great about him, the way he is able to adapt to the dogs around him. He can run around, have a good time and he also just as happy going off and doing his own thing while the other dogs are being wild. If he's not playing with other dogs, or off exploring in la la land, he's playing with his big red ball of his or he’s close to his favorite person. When Henry does play, he plays like a total shepherd. If you know shepherds or have ever owned one, then you know they love mouthy air play, will give nose boops where they see fit LOL, and use their paws like they are professional boxers at times all while keeping things lighthearted and fun. Shepherd play is definitely entertaining to say the least. Henry would love to have a dog sibling in the home, but if you don't have one, that's okay too. He does not need the company of another dog to satisfy his energy needs or to help him open up. Once that initial shyness has passed, he's a total heartthrob.
Henry met our house cat Biggie and met him appropriately and was very respectful around him. Henry did not chase him and Biggie also felt comfortable around him too. Henry did follow Biggie around for a short time, gave him a few sniffs and then was off loving on a person. We do not know if he has ever lived in a home before with a cat and this was our first time seeing him with a cat. One in a home, things can always change. If you have a cat in the home, we can arrange for Henry to have a sleepover with a cat upon request. Just let us know!
When it comes to training, Henry is ready and eager to learn! He loves treats and already knows a few basic commands such a sit and is so willing to learn more. Henry is learning mastering his leash skills, it's just something he hasn't done a whole lot of and he's already showing so much improvement. What does he need to get better at? Well, not zigzagging and learning to stay close on leash. With proactive and patient, he'll be walking like the distinguished gentleman he is. Bonus points, Henry's foster says that he has already gotten the hang of potty training and is crate trained as well! Coming from the streets just a few weeks ago to already getting that down, just goes to show how smart he is and he's loving the house life!
Henry will thrive with a semi-active family that enjoys frequent outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, going to the beach or even casual play time in the yard. A family or individual who appreciates nature and is ready to explore parks, trails, or snowy landscapes would be perfect. While he loves the great outdoors and loves to explore, Henry is also an affectionate snuggly guy at home and loves to burry his head into you for love, rest his head on your lap, and cuddle away. If you enjoy the outdoors but also cherish time spent relaxing indoors, Henry is the perfect fit. He would also do best in a home with a backyard as well. A place where he can stretch his legs, check out all of his favorite sniff spots, play with his big red ball (he prays you buy him one), roll around in the grass, and sunbathe during those beautiful summer days.
We are willing to test Henry Jo with anything you need in order to ensure it's a perfect match. We can make anything happen! Just let us know. Prior to Henry Jo finding his way to 3LP, something had happened to his leg causing him to have a limp. Henry is fortunate enough to undergo surgery to repair the leg and will be under the care of our excellent vet partners and his wonderful foster. While he focuses on healing, his travel date will be TBD but he'll continue receiving the best care possibly every step of the way. The good news? He can still be adopted, he just needs a little extra time before making his journey to his forever home.

We go above and beyond to ensure every animal receives exceptional care. Veterinarians consistently praise our medical standards. From routine care to advanced treatments, each dog receives personalized attention. Hard costs for a healthy dog range from $804-$920; heartworm-positive dogs or those needing specialized care can exceed $2,000+.
