-Additional Information:
Meet Boika, a German Shepherd who came into the shelter through no fault of his own. His previous human had to move and was heartbreakingly unable to take him along. Since arriving at the shelter, Boika has been extremely stressed. The busy, noisy environment has been overwhelming for him, and it’s clear he’s craving something he hasn’t had in a while stability, reassurance, and a person to call his own.

German Shepherds are known for their intelligence, loyalty, and deep bonds with their people, and Boika is no exception. He forms strong attachments and wants nothing more than to be near his human. Because of this, he is struggling with separation anxiety. Potential adopters should be prepared to provide a stable, consistent home environment and spend quality time building trust and confidence while avoiding leaving him alone for extended periods, especially at first. Boika will thrive with someone who understands the needs of the breed and has the time and commitment to help him grow into the confident companion he’s meant to be. With structure, love, and reassurance, he has the potential to blossom into an incredibly devoted best friend.

If you have the time, patience, and heart to help Boika feel safe again, he will repay you with unwavering loyalty and a lifetime of love. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website (www.whatcomhumane.org/adopt) or in person at our facility. We recommend calling into the shelter after your application has been submitted so our front desk can give you next steps on our adoption process.
