This girl is sweet, soulful, treat-motivated, and ready for the road... this is Celeste! She is the kind of dog who has a soft way about her from the start, with an easygoing, friendly nature that makes her feel like she could fit beautifully into so many kinds of homes and adventures.
Go watch her in action on YouTube, then come right back to read more about this tender, dog-loving girl. https://youtu.be/sWGeMnSwVtA
Celeste appears to be a Husky Shepherd mix, is estimated to be around 1.5 to 2 years old, and she weighs 53 lbs. As always with rescue, breed and age are our best guesses. What we do know for sure is that she is built for best-friend life with people and canine companions. She is happy to hop in the car for errands or adventures and has a lovely social style with other dogs. With other dogs,
Celeste is thoughtful and adaptable and handles a variety of dogs really nicely and does a great job matching their energy. She was calm and more aloof with one dog, a little more playful with another, and clearly showed that she knows how to read the room. She seems especially well suited for a home with a confident, slightly playful dog who can help show her the ropes and make her transition into a new life feel easier. We do not think another dog is an absolute must, but we do think she would truly enjoy having a canine buddy.
Celeste is also very sweet with people, with a sensitive and calm presence. She is the kind of dog who will thrive with a gentle, reassuring approach and a home that gives her a little time to settle in and feel safe. Insider info to fast track your way to her heart- she is very food motivated and treats are as good as gold with her! Once you make that connection she engages deeply, is very attentive, checks in, and has this quiet confidence that makes her practically glow.
She has great leash skills overall, and her responsiveness only grows as she builds that connection with her person. She feels like a dog who will do best in a home environment rather than an apartment, simply because a quieter, steadier space will help her feel more secure as she adjusts. She is tenderhearted and there is something very special about dogs like that. When they realize they are safe, you get to watch their whole world soften.
Celeste also has shown that dogs of all sizes are welcome! She has met several small dogs and again showed that she can be gentle and respects boundaries beautifully. We also introduced her to our house cat and she was respectfully curious. If you are interested in her and have cats we are happy to set her up for a Kitty Committee slumber party to get a better view of her approach with cats in the home.
If you love the kind of dog who is sweet, dog-friendly, a little sensitive, and sweet to her core, Celeste is your girl- the kind of companion who will grow more beautiful with you by her side. Apply today to welcome Celeste home!

At our 2 acre Texas based property, we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group training and socialization play groups helping them stay confident, well rounded, and adoption-ready.
