Chelo is a beautiful Doberman / German Shepherd mix with a classic brown and black coat, warm eyes, and a gentle, soulful presence. Born June 2024, she is about 50 pounds and ready to find her forever home.

Chelo is the definition of a sweetheart. She loves to relax just as much as she loves to play, striking that perfect balance between fun and calm. She is friendly, kind, and affectionate, and while she may take a few minutes to settle into brand-new environments, she warms up quickly and bonds deeply with her people.

She is wonderful with children and enjoys interacting and playing with them. With adults, she is friendly and open, and she tolerates handling well, though she may appreciate gentle reassurance during grooming or vet visits.

With other dogs, Chelo is submissive, easygoing, and respectful. She enjoys their company but doesn’t depend on another dog for confidence. She prefers dogs with a similar calm, balanced energy and does best in one-on-one interactions rather than chaotic group settings. She does not resource guard and has shown no reactivity or aggression.

Chelo has moderate energy — she enjoys daily walks and backyard time but is happy with a lower-key lifestyle. A home with a yard where she can stretch her legs would suit her best. She is adaptable and well-adjusted, with no concerning behaviors, no escape tendencies, and no mouthiness.

She will need continued work with potty training, crate training, and leash skills, but she is very easy to train and eager to please. She responds beautifully to gentle, consistent guidance and would thrive with an adopter who is patient and structured.

Chelo is currently in foster care in Texas and will be transported to her approved adoptive family. We have transports departing each week.
