Bonnie & Clyde are back! Aren’t they an adorable pair?
These dogs were living in the streets of Dallas and now they are ready for their forever homes.
Technically the spaniel’s name is Ciara, but Bonnie & Clyde made for a cuter headline.
Some kind people in Dallas who work at a fabric shop were feeding them, so they would pop by daily to eat. The shepherd had been coming by for 2 years. The spaniel joined him and they had been running around together for about 6 months. During that time, they were apparently inseparable. But sadly, it is believed they were sleeping under a bridge.
When we at Happy Furever learned about this, we made the trek to Dallas (twice) to rescue them. The first try they no-showed to eat, and the second try, there they were, ready to be rescued.
It didn’t take long for them to feel right at home at the Happy Furever foster farm, and boy did they catch up on sleep. They surely hadn’t had a comfy place to sleep in a looooong time.
Now, as you can see, they are happy as clams with warm beds, full bellies, room to run around, and excellent care by our farm manager, Carl. They love to run and play, but they also love pets and attention. They also do a lot of sleeping and lounging around. They are inseparable too.
One observation is they’ve get some separation anxiety when Carl is not around. They really love having their human nearby, presumably because they’ve gone without a human caretaker for so long. But this is something that
will surely ease in time as they come to trust that they are not being abandoned.
The shepherd is a male, the spaniel is a female. We had them checked for microchips and the female spaniel, Bonnie/Ciara had a chip. We contacted her owner who said she had gotten out many months back and they didn’t want her anymore. Ahem. Anyhow, she’s better off now.
Clyde is neutered, and Bonnie/Ciara is spayed. Both are vaccinated but heartworm positive, so they are undergoing treatment and will be ready for adoption soon. We will cover the cost of heartworm treatments.
They are otherwise healthy and ready for a new home together. We really don’t want to separate them, but if the right people come along, we would consider it.
Aren’t they an adorable pair? Come meet them! They are total love bugs waiting for you!
