Meet Strawz, an almost five year old German Shepherd/Mini Aussie mix weighing 42 pounds.

Strawz is a gentle girl who came from a very sad situation and is now looking for a safe, loving home where she can finally relax and feel secure. She was owner surrendered due to her owners autistic son hitting her and them fearing for her safety. She is a sensitive dog who has been through more than her fair share, and she truly deserves kindness, patience, and understanding as she continues to heal.

Because of her past, Strawz loves being close to her people and doesn’t like being left alone in a yard—she may try to escape if she’s feeling anxious, not out of mischief, but in an effort to find her humans. She is kennel trained, potty trained, and walks nicely on leash, showing just how much good she has to offer.

Right now, she is still a little nervous and adjusting to shelter life, but she is beginning to show her sweet, loyal nature. For her comfort and wellbeing, she would likely do best in a calm home without young children, as we want to ensure she feels safe and not overwhelmed while she continues to decompress.

Strawz is looking for a patient adopter who can give her stability, love, and reassurance. With time and kindness, she has so much potential to blossom into a devoted companion
