Believe me when I say, Tia Mia is one of the most affectionate Shepherds I have ever met! She loves everything about physical touch. From getting her belly rubbed, to scratching behind her ears, to rubbing that booty, she melts with all affection. She loves it all! Tia Mia is so incredibly tolerant with quite literally everything, even with her feet being touched. In her eyes, all affection is good affection. She quite literally will lean her whole body into you for affection and then will flop to the floor and ask for belly rubs. It's incredible how loving she is. She is every Shepherd lover's DREAM!
Watch her video and you'll quickly see why she was given the Sweetheart title: https://youtu.be/FkyYGbwpzdQ?si=sYIUwiL-Q1Bhom8O
Tia Mia is believed to be a German Shepherd mix approximately 1–2 years old and currently weighs 50 lbs. She is a rescue dog and with any rescue, it's always a mystery and we cannot guarantee age or breed. Just based off looks alone, it's pretty fair to say that she has some GSD in that DNA. We'd be so happy to find adopters who have a little GSD experience under their belt. Someone who gets their fun, independent spirit and is ready for a loving, adventurous companion.
Tia is dog friendly and has done great with all of the dogs we have introduced. She does prefer slightly slower introductions to new doggy friends before immediately jumping into playtime. When Tia does play, she plays like a total shepherd. If you know shepherds or have ever owned one, then you know they love mouthy air play, will give nose boops where they see fit LOL, and love to play chase. Shepherd play is definitely entertaining to say the least. Tia is also more of a bounce back and forth, run alongside her friends rather than super physical wrestles type play. She will give a subtle correction to a dog if she's not up for play in that moment or if the play was getting a little too rough. Like how an older sister would do with her little brother, a teaching moment. Always fair while also advocating for her boundaries.
Tia would do great in a home with a moderately playful dog that likes to play and also one that appreciates down time too. A pal that is a good mixture of both would perfect for her.
If you don't have other dogs, that's fine by Tia. She does not need the company of another dog to help her feel comfortable or open up nor does she need another dog to help fulfill her energy needs. She is a total love bug with her people and will be completely satisfied with some play time in the back yard with her person or a walk around the neighborhood.
Tia also met our house cat Biggie and met him appropriately and was very respectful around him. She did not chase Biggie, nor was she bothered by Biggie jumping or doing what cats do. Biggie also felt comfortable around her as well. We do not know if Tia has ever lived in a home before with a cat and this was our first time seeing her with a cat. If you have a cat in the home, we can arrange for her to have a sleepover with a cat upon request. Just let us know!
Tia is a smart gal too! She brings the brains to every training session. She is very treat motivated and eager to please. She already knows how to sit, and you can tell she is ready to learn it all just by the way she engages with her person. It’s actually pretty cute how much she wants to make you happy. You’ll see it in her video if you haven’t already. She walks fairly nicely on a leash and may pull occasionally out of excitement to go sniff something interesting or say hello to a friendly face. It’s easy to regain her focus, and she responds well to gentle reminders. Tia is also comfortable tandem walking with other dogs. She is crate trained and potty trained too! With patience, consistency, and of course treats, training with Tia will be a fun and rewarding bonding experience for you both.
She would thrive in a home with a semi-active family that enjoys neighborhood walks and is looking for a super affectionate girl. If you’re someone who loves to host and have people over, Tia will be the very first one to greet your guests. Not feeling especially social one day? That’s perfectly fine by Tia, she’ll be happiest wherever you are. She would also make an amazing adventure buddy! Take her to the park, explore nature trails, go on outings, visit your local brewery or beach, and watch her win hearts and gather adoring fans everywhere she goes. We believe Tia would thrive in a home with a backyard where she can stretch her legs, soak up the sunshine, and happily meander alongside you while you garden or work around the yard.
We are willing to test Tia Mia with anything you need in order to ensure it's a perfect match. We can make anything happen! Just let us know.

At our 2 acre Texas based property, we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group training and socialization play groups helping them stay confident, well rounded, and adoption-ready.
