DESCRIPTION

Meet Hoppy — a sweet, shy young hound who hops with joy once he feels safe. Hoppy adores other dogs and would do best with a confident canine buddy to go home with him and show him the ropes. He absolutely adores other dogs. He’s potty trained at our facility, very food motivated, and already knows "sit." True to his hound roots, Hoppy will bark when strangers come to the door, so apartment living may not be ideal. Hoppy needs reassurance and patience to feel safe, but once he does he is a velcro dog. He is even good with cats!

The main shelter was overwhelming for him, so he’s currently at our Ravenel transition center. Interested in meeting Hoppy? Email transitioncenter@charlestonanimalsociety.org to schedule an adoption appointment.

ABOUT: MIXED BREED DOG BREED

The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
