2/11/26-Cleo stayed up there with us until about midnight when we let all the others out of their crate. We took everybody down and partied, and then we left her in her crate in the living room room. She was sound asleep when I came down this morning. She doesn’t like a leash hooked to her harness or her collar, but she doesn’t mind the lead if you just loop it around your neck. She tumbled down the last four stairs last night but she got up, shook it off and went out the front door. That’s how fast she was moving. Lol We only left her downstairs for the next few hours because we felt like it was too warm for her up in our bedroom. She was back to her normal self this morning. She stopped by our boy Milton’s crate and decided to verbally assault him as she walked by so we still aren’t sure if her bully genes are going to make her want to be an only dog. I cooked her a salmon fillet this morning. I gave her half of it crumbled up over her kibble and she devoured it and then I gave her a couple little more pieces. I’m gonna do the same thing for her tonight, she absolutely loved it. She had a little bit of New York strip last night. She liked that too. My husband also put the lead around her neck last night and called her by her name and she rolled up all 13 stairs like she’s been doing it her whole life. Instead of going in her crate this morning after she pottied she wanted to go back up the stairs with him. Cleo tells you what it is that she likes and doesn’t like and what it is that she wants and doesn’t want she’s so incredibly smart, but she is a snotty little girl. Cleo‘s eyes were goopy so I got home from work yesterday & once I clean them up, she looks wonderful. She has yeast very bad in her ears, so I’m gonna use the otic solution that I have and the drops & antibiotics until she sees the vet. I touched them up a little bit this morning, and I will do them again tonight when I get home. Her skin & paws are a mess too, good food & cleaning her skin & antibiotics should help. Wiped her inside of her paws down and her belly with a little warm water and Epsom salt solution trying to get her in the bathtub tonight.
2/10/26-Cleo finally ate a really good meal this morning. She’s drinking well she potties as soon as she goes outside. She didn’t like the slow feeder bowl that I put down for her the other day with the water in it, but when I put water down in the regular stainless steel bowl, she drinks really well. I can already let her loose on the leash outside with me. There is no chance of her running away. Right now she is very stressed & does not like the other dogs here. We tried intros through the gate and through the crate. We were told she was good with a chihuahua mix but we don’t know how much interaction she had with other dogs if any or how long ago that was. Every day she’s getting a little better with my husband and I. She wants to growl at us as we approach our hand in her crate very slowly to put a leash on. She does love getting cuddled and rubbed though. Her eyes are messed up. I’m not sure if it’s cataracts and one of her elbows is so raw that it look like it’s been bleeding a little bit. I’m gonna put a little bit of coconut oil or Neosporin on there cause it’s not like she could reach your elbow. She just needs a lot of TLC and we are going to pamper her. We were told she didn’t do stairs well, like many top heavy English bulldogs, but she just flew up 13 stairs like a boss so that she could sleep with her people. She said “who said I didn’t like the stairs?!” Lol. Lots of bulldog snorting too!
2/08/26-Miss Cleo is a spayed 6 year old English bulldog that was abandoned with a roommate. She came into rescue today thanks to her transport volunteers. She has her shots, heartworm/lyme test & vet checkup on Friday 2/20. Soon after that she should be ready for her new home.
