UTAH FOSTER DOG -- Meet Honey --
Honey is a double dapple dachshund puppy with a soft, loving nature and a beautifully unique way of experiencing the world. Born deaf and with vision in one eye, she relies on her senses of sight, smell, and connection—and she navigates life with curiosity and confidence.
Honey doesn’t bark, but she communicates in her own sweet ways that are easy to learn. She’s observant, gentle, and loves to explore at her own pace—whether that’s watching ants, sniffing flowers, or investigating every crunchy leaf along the way. Walks with Honey are slow, thoughtful, and full of little discoveries.
She enjoys playtime like fetch and tug-of-war, and she’s getting the hang of walking on a harness and leash. She’s also learning her routine at home and will go outside to potty when taken out consistently. She already knows her way around the house (especially where the kitchen is!).
Because Honey cannot hear and has limited vision, she’ll do best in a home that can provide a safe, predictable environment and is committed to using gentle guidance, consistency, and touch cues for training. A securely fenced yard or closely supervised outdoor time will help her stay safe as she continues to grow and learn.
What Honey gives her family in return is trust and love, following her people with trust, and she gives the sweetest, most unconditional kisses.
Honey is looking for a patient, loving home that will embrace her and help her continue to blossom. If you’re ready for a loyal little shadow with a tender heart, Honey is ready to meet you.
Honey is currently being fostered in Utah.
Rocky Mountain Dachshund Rescue (RMDR) has foster families in Colorado, Nevada, Utah, Montana, and Wyoming. Please check the dog’s location before your apply to adopt them. You will need to pick them up. RMDR DOES NOT TRANSPORT THE DOG TO YOU or transport them across state lines.
The Colorado Department of Agriculture requires that all dogs entering PACFA-licensed facilities have a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI) issued by an accredited veterinarian within 30 days of entry. Dogs over three months of age must also have proof of a current rabies vaccination, including the vaccination date, manufacturer, and serial number listed on the CVI. Puppies must receive parvovirus and distemper vaccinations at least 14 days before entry.
These PACFA requirements may affect the adoption fee. For questions, please email us at contact@rmdr.org.
At RMDR, adoptions are not first-come, first-served—we carefully place each dog in the home that best fits their needs. Applications are usually reviewed within 48 hours. Every RMDR dog is spayed/neutered, microchipped, and current on vaccinations.
