Dachshund and Chihuahua Dogs Available for Adoption

***Out of an abundance of caution, our public dog kennels are temporarily closed due to a sick puppy in the kennel area. This dog entered the shelter after the puppy’s diagnosis, has been housed separately with no exposure, and appears healthy and is available to meet during our open adoption hours: Monday–Friday 10:00am–12:30pm and 2:00pm–4:30pm, with additional hours Thursday 4:00pm–6:30pm and Saturday 9:00am–1:30pm.

Lucky is a 5-year-old male Dachshund/Chihuahua mix with a gentle soul and a heart full of love. He came to us after his owner sadly passed away, and while that change was confusing at first, Lucky has shown just how resilient and sweet he truly is.

Lucky previously lived with another small breed dog and enjoys the company of canine friends. He loves the simple things in life — cozy beds, quiet companionship, and being close to his people. Lucky would do best in a calm, loving home where he can settle in at his own pace and feel safe again. Once he knows you’re “his person,” he’s incredibly loyal and affectionate.

Lucky is looking for a fresh start and a forever home where he can feel secure, cherished, and loved again. If you’re searching for a devoted companion who will appreciate every moment by your side, Lucky just might be the perfect match.
