Meet Herman, this darling 12-year-old Dachshund-Beagle mix who proves that age is just a number and love only grows sweeter with time
This handsome senior gentleman came to Satchel's Last Resort Animal Shelter after being found as a stray by Manatee County Animal Welfare. While we don't know much about his past, we do know this: he is absolutely full of love.
He greets everyone he meets with a gentle, happy spirit and a wag that says, "I'm so glad you're here." He seems to get along well with other dogs and has shown all the signs that he would likely do just fine with a cat, too. He truly seems to enjoy companionship-both two-legged and four-legged.
Like many distinguished seniors, he does have a few medical needs. He has chronic dry eye and will likely need eye medication twice daily to keep him comfortable. He also has a cherry eye that will be repaired soon, and he'll be having a dental to make sure that charming smile stays healthy. None of this dampens his sweet disposition-he handles it all like a polite little gentleman.
He's a pleasant car rider and will happily join you on outings, though he can be a bit anxious during travel. With reassurance and a loving voice, he settles in and does just fine. Mostly, he's simply happy to be with his person.
This boy is looking for a soft place to land-a home where he can enjoy cozy naps, leisurely strolls, and the comfort of knowing he's finally safe and loved. If you have room in your heart for a loyal, affectionate companion who will adore you completely, this sweet Dachshund-Beagle mix may be your perfect match.
Senior dogs have so much love left to give. He's ready to give all of his to you.
