Coonhound and Anatolian Shepherd Dogs Available for Adoption

Jake is an incredibly sweet, gentle soul who recently returned to our rescue through no fault of his own. He was adopted about four months ago by a family who experienced a tragic and unexpected loss in their immediate family. They loved Jake dearly and tried their best, but during such a difficult time, they felt they weren’t able to take care of themselves much less Jake.

Before the family tragedy, Jake was doing very well with potty training. He is still mostly potty trained, and the few accidents he had were due to being ignored and not let out—not behavioral issues. With routine and consistency, he should settle right back in.

Jake is truly one of the sweetest dogs we have. He is loving, eager to please, and people-focused. He plays wonderfully with other dogs, does great with kids (he absolutely loves them), and fits in beautifully with a calm household. He is respectful of our horses, stays right with you on walks—on or off leash—and is relatively quiet. Jake is never the first one to bark and has an easygoing, gentle nature.

Jake is ready for a fresh start with a family who can give him stability, love, and the companionship he so happily returns. He has so much affection to give and will make a loyal, devoted best friend to the lucky family who chooses him.

Jake has not been tested with cats but we can certainly test him.

• We cannot do meet-and-greets. The trip is long and demanding, and it would not be safe or fair for a dog or puppy to travel north and then return to Texas.

• Joliet & Davenport area adopters meet in Oglesby or Roscoe
• Milwaukee area adopters: we do not have a Milwaukee stop, but we do stop in Sun Prairie, Fond du Lac, and Roscoe (near Rockford)

Medical & Spay/Neuter Information:
Most puppies travel with two rounds of vaccines, and sometimes three. Occasionally, we may not have had a puppy long enough for a second round.

Puppies under 6–8 months of age are not spayed or neutered. Spaying or neutering is a required condition of adoption and must be completed by the puppy’s first birthday, at the adopter’s expense. Out-of-state surgery costs are not included in the adoption fee.

About Our Rescue
Atlanta Texas Area Spay Neuter Project is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Adoption proceeds go directly toward:
• Spaying and neutering dogs for low-income families in Texas, Arkansas, and Louisiana
• Medical care for rescued puppies and dogs
• Emergency veterinary assistance for families in need when possible

All dogs remain in Texas foster homes until adopted.

Breed Disclaimer:
Breed is our best estimate based on the puppy’s appearance and, when known, the mother’s appearance. Fathers are rarely known, and litters can have multiple fathers, meaning puppies may be half-siblings with different breed mixes.
