Cockapoo Dogs Available for Adoption

KOKO CABANA

Cockapoo
🇨🇦
Toronto, Ontario
March 28th
female, small, baby

DESCRIPTION

Born January 1, 2026, KoKo Cabana was passed around a bit between friends, because puppies are A LOT of work and her people just weren't ready for the lifestyle change a puppy brings.

On arrival to Mattie's Place, March 23, Koko Cabana weighed in at 4.1 KG/9 pounds. She is apparently a Cockapoo. I don't know her adult weight, but I would think in the 25 pound weight range, but I'm not fully certain.

KoKo Cabana is a puppy and puppies are loads of work. Be sure you are 100% understanding of the commitment needed for a puppy before considering adopting. She will chew your things. Pee on your floor while housetraining. Keep you up at night wanting attention or to play.

She requires someone home most often, so she can learn all the things puppies need to learn in their early months of life.

KoKo Cabana will fit into most lifestyles; dogs, cats, kids. She's a puppy and adaptable at this age.

She will require professional grooming every 2-3 months, so be sure you have that budgeted in your dog ownership finances. KoKo Cabana will also benefit from professional training and puppy classes to ensure she is set up for success during her informative months.

KoKo Cabana requires one further round of vaccines, in April, at the cost of Mattie's Place at our rescue veterinarian. She will also be on a non-negotiable spay contract with Mattie's Place, to have her spay completed, at our Mattie's Place veterinarian, at my cost, in July 2026. Vet is located in Unionville.

KoKo Cabana is a truly delightful, but mischievous puppy, looking for a home to call her own with people that understand puppy life and are dedicated to seeing her through the sweetest but also, most challenging times of dog ownership.

FROM THE FOSTER:

Koko Cabana is simply, a sweet playful perfect cockapoo puppy.

Routine is a simple cycle of eat, sleep, play, nap, repeat. She eats 3 x daily (1/2+ cup), and goes outside immediately after waking up, and after eating, for potty breaks.

Playtime. She loves her toys but also has the puppy knack of preferring everything else - clothes, shoes, chair legs…but can be easily distracted back into focusing on her chew toys or balls. In the middle of the afternoon she gets extra playful and a little “puppy crazy”. We have some fun then work on calming her down with working on “sit down” and encouraging her to go into her crate - 5 mins or so max. After dinner she can get a burst of crazy puppy energy too and has a round of 'zoomies' so we try to keep things nice and calm in the evening. Cuddle time!

Bedtime: Before bed we have another outside break to potty and then she follows upstairs to settle down for the night. She sleeps on her bed beside us overnight, waking around 3am and 6am with a little whine - quick potty break and she settles back down very quickly.

Social: Koko loves to play - or try to - with resident doodle Tayo (70lbs) but as a senior, he’s less interested. I imagine she’ll grow up to be a very social, playful pup and work well with other dogs. She has also been around children (6 and 10) and is a gentle, good pup with them, despite the expected puppy nipping. She plays in the garden and has gone on walks outside only carried in her puppy-sling which she loves to sniff and explore new sights and smells.

Crate: When we leave the house for short periods, we crate her - she has learned to enter by choice and is given treat as a reward but once the door closes she will protest for a couple of minutes. She then settles down with her chew toy and is quiet as a mouse til we return.

Nothing more to say other than Koko is a picture perfect puppy, who does puppy things, and is going to make the best companion for her new family!
