Chow Chow Dogs Available for Adoption

Cory is so handsome! Cory was a large shelter staff favorite, but he ran out of time due to overcrowding so the staff who loved him requested he be safely transferred to foster care with rescue. He is now available as a adopted dog or to an approved foster to adopt home. He's now Safe in RED (Rescue Every Dog) foster care and learning about life with a loving family. His known past, Cory was living lost in a railyard outside the city for several weeks. The workers called animal control, the officers brought him to the large shelter. He has been bathed, neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. He is thought to be 3 to 5 years old but age is a guess. He is a unknown mix but we are working on a DNA test. He is a little reserved with strangers initially like most dogs, but he warms up quickly and is very affectionate once he knows you. He loves playing in the Safely fenced yard at his foster home. He would be a great one on one best buddy dog with his adoptive home. We are still working on learning his preferred dog friends dogs in his foster home. We will update as soon as more dog introductions are made. He arrive in March so he still needs time to reveal all the things he knows and still needs guidance with after he has had some time to decompress with his current caregivers. He was definitely underweight when he came to the shelter, but he appears to be in good health otherwise. He will need humans who enjoy adding training, skills and cue with their dog so will help him become his best self and get caught up on some of the skills he missed in his earlier life. He is handsome and looking for his people to love.

Most dogs require a fenced yard. We seek fully fenced yards with a physical, visible fence. Typically, the fence must be connected to the house/ a door in the home, and the dog safe fenced area must exclude driveway and car access. Shock/electronic fences will not be approved for most dogs. A sturdy, high quality crate is also required (due to safety concerns, no wire or soft crates will be accepted. Impact, Ruffland, 4 point contact locking door Skyline, Zinger Winger, etc type crate). We will be considering homes in W. Wa and possibly Oregon, no other out of state adoptions at this time. Adoption donation is $250 to help cover his transport, vetting, a daily care.

REQUIREMENTS FOR ADOPTION:

- Securely and visibly fenced yard 4ft+
- Sturdy/safe crate, due to the safety hazard wire crates will be not be accepted. Impact, Ruffland, 4 point contact locking door Skyline, Zinger Winger, etc type crate).
- Western Washington (WA), and possibly Northern Oregon locations at caseworker discretion. No other out of state adoptions at this time.

1. Once the application is received it will be reviewed by that animals caseworker.

2. If your application is seen as a good fit to the pet you are applying for we will request photos of your fenced yard as well as your current crate or the crate you plan on purchasing.

3. Once received we will schedule a phone interview with you to discuss the pet and the next steps, should a match be seen.

(3) You must be at least 18 years of age to complete the application or to apply to adopt a companion animal. For the safety of children and dogs and limited information on dog the dogs interaction with children- R.E.D generally prefers/requires children in adoptive home to be approximately 5 or 6 years of age and up unless otherwise noted in the dog profile. All children must be behavior appropriate with animals. (4) R.E.D. does not a ship animals to out of state adopters.
