Lars is a 5-year-old Chocolate Labrador Retriever who is the definition of a "velvet shadow." If you are looking for a devoted companion who takes his job of watching over his family seriously, Lars is your guy!
Lars at a Glance:
• Personality: Deeply affectionate, loyal, and observant. He loves to keep his "pack" in sight and will follow you from room to room just to make sure you’re okay.
• Family Life: Lars is fantastic with children! He is gentle, patient, and loves their attention—even when they’re wrapping him up in blankets like a burrito.
• Behavior: A true gentleman in the house. He is non-destructive, house-trained, and has a wonderful "off switch" where he’ll happily snooze on the couch or the kitchen floor.
• Leash Skills: He is very easy to walk and enjoys his daily trips to the bus stop to greet the neighborhood kids.
Home Needs:
• Foodie at Heart: Lars prefers the "finer things" in life. To get him excited about mealtime, his foster family mixes in some cooked egg, chicken, or ground beef with his kibble.
• Activity: He lives for a game of fetch! He has a classic "bird dog" curiosity and is calm around farm animals like horses, chickens, and even ferrets.
• Companionship: Lars thrives on being near his humans. He’s not a fan of the crate and doesn’t need one; he’s perfectly well-behaved when left free-roaming in the house.
Health & Status:
Lars is neutered (https://brooklinelabrescue.org/blog/lars-2-chocolate-labrador-retriever-male/) and recovering beautifully. He has a great recall and is eager to please, making him a joy to continue training.
