Chiweenie and Rat Terrier Dogs Available for Adoption

Jose is a 10-month-old Chiweenie and Rat Terrier mix weighing 25 pounds. At about 14" high, Jose is a bit vertically challenged, but has the confidence of a movie star. Jose loves spending time outdoors, especially playing frisbee. He is quite enthusiastic and speedy, sort of a Tom Cruise among pups. When it comes to frisbee, it is definitely Mission Possible for Jose, as he does all of his own stunts.

In addition to his playful nature, Jose is a big cuddle bug, always ready for belly rubs and snuggles. When bedtime rolls around, Jose is happiest curled up close, enjoying all the affection and attention he can get. Jose absolutely loves playing with other dogs and thrives in the company of his foster siblings. Jose brings 100% energy and joy to every interaction.

Jose is well-mannered and house trained, learning how to walk on a leash.
Jose is curious, loves the outdoors, joyfully running and playing, going on walks and exploring the world.

Getting Jose Home
Jose has been neutered, microchipped, and is up to date on vaccinations. He’s a wonderful dog who will thrive with a patient, dog‑loving adopter—someone who understands that he has so much love to give and may simply need a little time to adjust and settle into his new home.

Important Information — Out‑of‑Town Pet
Please note: Jose is an “Out of Town Pet.”
He is not located at this location. Our rescue is based in Houston, Texas (https://www.facebook.com/TwilightTailsRescue), and all of our fosters and our Rescue Ranch are in the Houston area. He can be transported safely and comfortably to a pickup location near you. Our rescue transport runs once a month through your area.

Understanding Transport
After your application is approved, Jose will be scheduled for transport through AJC Rescue & Transport (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100083418067425).

Transport is a well‑organized, compassionate process:

Dogs travel in a air‑conditioned/heated Mercedes Sprinter from our ranch in Fulshear, TX to a designated pickup point near you.

Each transport has two drivers who alternate driving and updating a real‑time group chat.

You’ll be added to this Facebook chat so you can track Jose’s journey, receive updates, and know his exact arrival time and location.

While drivers work hard to stay on schedule, factors like weather or traffic can cause slight delays. You’ll be notified of any changes.

Dogs are given regular bathroom, walk, and food breaks, and for safety, all dogs remain crated during transport.

We’ve partnered with Andrea and her team for years because they consistently provide first‑class, reliable, and caring transport for our dogs.

The Chiweenie is a delightful small dog breed that is a cross between a Chihuahua and a Dachshund. Known for their affectionate and loyal nature, Chiweenies are excellent companions for singles, families, and seniors alike. These pint-sized pups typically have a playful yet independent personality, making them a charming addition to any household.
