Chihuahua Dogs Available for Adoption

This dog is with Rat Terrier Rescue Canada. Note that we are unable to adopt outside of Canada.

All our foster dogs are in private foster homes. The foster parents have written the bios you will read with what they know about the dog. Please read the bios carefully and ensure they are a fit for your household. Thank you.

THIS DOG IS FOSTERED IN LOUISIANA AND WILL COME TO CANADA WITH AN ACCEPTED ADOPTION CONTRACT. PUPPIES UNDER THE AGE OF 8 MONTHS CANNOT COME TO CANADA WITHOUT AN APPROVED ADOPTER. You will not be able to meet your puppy ahead of pick up date - Rat Terrier Rescue Canada will attempt to provide you with as many pictures and videos as possible between a confirmed adoption and pick up.

Meet Bear!

Bear is a 3-month-old (born in November 2025) male, Chihuahua mix weighing 6 pounds of pure sweetness. While he’s still a puppy, he has the soul of a little old man! He’s calm, gentle, and perfectly content just lounging around near his favourite people.

Bear loves to “talk” to you in his own adorable way and absolutely adores cuddling — especially when he’s wrapped up snug in a cozy blanket. Though he enjoys playtime (especially with socks!), he’s happiest right by your side and will faithfully follow you from room to room.

He would do just fine as the only puppy in the home, soaking up all the love and attention. Bear is currently working on potty training with pads and learning crate training.

On sunny days, you’ll likely find him stretched out on the porch, happily soaking up the warmth like the little old man he is.

If you’re looking for a loyal, cuddly companion with a calm and loving personality, Bear might just be your perfect match.

Rat Terrier Rescue Canada Adoption Fees
Puppies under 1 year - $775
Young adult 1 year - 5 years $650
Adults 6 years - 9 years $575
Seniors 10+ $325

The adoption fee includes spay/neuter .
*EXCLUDING UNALTERED PUPPIES UNDER A YEAR.

The adoption fee also includes, at a minimum, age appropriate vaccinations, de-worming, I.D. tag and microchip insertion. We gratefully accept any amount above the adoption fee as a donation used to support our mission to save as many dogs as possible.

The Chihuahua is a small breed famous for its confidence, loyalty, and big personality, despite its tiny size. Originating from Mexico, these dogs are known for their large, expressive eyes and alert, curious nature. Chihuahuas make excellent companions, forming strong bonds with their owners and displaying a protective nature. They come in a variety of coat colors and patterns, with both long and short coats, making them a diverse and adorable addition to any family.
